One persons conspiracy theory is as good as another

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

This morning on SAfm, I heard several callers express their concern that any Covid19 vaccine would turn out to be a plot by western-oriented medicine to eliminate black people in Africa. I despaired over such credulous ignorance. Then . . . oh dear . . . "According to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll, 44 percent of Republicans believe that Bill Gates is plotting to use a mass COVID-19 vaccination campaign as a pretext to implant microchips in billions of people and monitor their movements — a widely debunked conspiracy theory with no basis in fact"

It's the same the whole world over / ain't it all a bleedin' shame / it's the rich what turns out stupid / and the poor are just the same
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

She stood on the bridge at midnight
Throwing snowballs at the moon
She said, “Sir, I’ve never ‘ad it”
But she spoke too bloomin’ soon.

Many think they out grow and leave the boogy man of their childhood behind. Not really. They trade the old for the new like automobiles.

Why on earth would Bill Gates want to track the movements of billions of people anyway?

When one reaches a certain age, keeping track of movements provides a lot of conversation

I don't buy the chip and track conspiracy. Tracking movement is something else marketing people would love. The candy and "as seen on TV" junk at checkout counters for impulse buying would be nothing compared to what could be implemented between smart appliances and other ways you're being categorized and warehoused.

Walmart recently trialed do it yourself checkout using a Telezon device similar to what associates use. It didn't last long at the only Walmart I saw it. That goes beyond point of sale data collection by storing everything you may have picked up and put back on the shelf.

Now imagine one those those TV screens at a gas pump or in a Walmart instead of endlessly looping a tape, calling out your name and reminding you're low or out of something at home. Go to another grocery and you'd get the same message.

Likewise a billboard could flash a car ad at you based on the car you drive offering a customer loyalty deal. That could be based on the age of your car and the maintenance history. NAPA already determines what parts a location stocks by correlating the age and car models within a given range based on DMV data.

Manufacturers know how long that electronic item you bought will last. You'd know, if you paid attention, the people directing ads at you know you'll have to buy a replacement very soon.

"IF" we paid attention. Darren, we're not as omnipotent as you.

I'll try to do better.

I don’t know about conversation, but in recent years it’s been a focus of mine and particularly in recent weeks as I’ve flirted with opiod dependence.

I suppose that’s conversation. Anyway, senna is your friend.

Omnipotent isn't on my CV, Ray. If truth in all things was required at best I'm an asshole. You'd be amazed at how many believe I'm joking when we first meet. 8-)

Observation and situational awareness from a long ago class do play a part in day to day ruminations.

Of course not.  That's what the legendary 'Doc' is for.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
