We cut the cable. I miss HBO only slightly, but I like the extra $189 a month we save with Netflix, hulu, and Prime TV which is "free" with an Amazon Prime account.

You can get most major broadcast cable channels via Sling for $30/month. If it’s just HBO you’re missing, you can add it to your Amazon or Hulu for $15/month and you can easily shut it on and off - I subscribe for 2-3 months of the year, spaced out, and binge whatever HBO shows I’ve been wanting to see during those months.

Because Bill Maher and John Oliver are topical, I watch them on YouTube or listen to the podcasts.

Heez Jeez Louise, $189 a month for cable???  I pay about a hundred, and that includes my internet service too.
Of course, I don't subscribe to any of the pay-to-play or movie channels either.  Don't need 'em, don't want 'em, could not care less about 'em.

We had the infamous ''Cox Bundle". That included phone, internet, and about every cable channel available, dozens of which we never watched. Once I convinced Mrs Mc that the only people who ever called us on the landline were pollsters and charities, some bogus, it was an easy decision.

We also get about 50 digital TV stations, up from five before digital came to pass. I'm still not sold on digital. The reception is not as good on many of them as the five used to be, but they are available. I think it's an antenna issue, even though I can see several of their towers from my yard. One is two miles and four more are ten miles away. I've tried several, supposedly digital, antennas with no improvement.

I almost never participate in polls. There is no way to know who is actually asking the questions. Is it a nosy neighbor, employer, or really someone from the RNC that you'd really like to give an earful? They seldom call my cell phone, but I do get a lot of other junk calls.
