Gob, is this normal police practice in England to withhold the name of a murder suspect, just curious?

“Officers worked through yesterday and into the early hours of this morning in a bid to trace the man we believe responsible for these terrible crimes,” Birmingham Police Commander Chief Superintendent Steve Graham said in a statement.
The man, who has not been publicly identified, was taken into custody around 4 a.m. local time, officials said.

The stabbing spree began in Constitution Hill, then continued south through Livery Street, Irving Street and Hurst Street, known as Birmingham’s Gay Village.
Police said the attack does not appear to be “motivated by hate.”
“There is absolutely no suggestion at all that this is terror-related,” Graham said Sunday.”
