Off the top of my head, pretty much any die-hard college football fan / alumnus / sports gambler who just saw their team get knocked out of the March Madness — and by a church school like Oral fuckin' Roberts on top of it!!!
Not saying it's right; just saying that's the way it is these days.

I'm with TPF on this one, and don't disagree with BB either.
I avoid the whole march madness (that extends into April) thing. But I did see stories about this incident and really vile death threats.
What is going on? According to the game re-cap I read, the player in question did better than anyone else on his team.
Perhaps we should stop using the word 'fan' and use its complete source: fanatic.

He needs to learn how to take personal responsibility. If he hadn't missed the shot, he could have avoided all this drama.

Get ready for a fresh batch of hateful comments, this time from Illini alumi ... #1 seed Illinois got knocked off by #8 seed Loyola Chicago in their bracket. But at least they made it to the second round.
God, I hate what college sports have become over the past 30-40 years, what with player recruiting, red-shirting to retain eligibility, under-the-table payments and endorsements, licensing, merchadising, and all the other ways what was originally an extra-curricular activity for students has become a de facto semi-pro farm system for the NBA, NFL, MLB, and all the other pro sports.
Hell, half of these 'student athletes' nowadays never finish their education but enter the NFL or NBA draft in their junior year... and those who DO get a diploma probably don't have a functional enough education to be able to read it.

No surprise--when the gambling outweighs any real interest in the game or its outcome (and this is often the case), people get pissed when they lose money and rail against the players.
