So what is the border situation for Canadians going into the US? They're saying essential travel only, but, a week or so ago an engineer that lives in Windsor was on the "in office" schedule.

I lost track of the rules and all the exceptions months ago. I'm not sure that those enforcing them even know half the time.

in an unrelated note Internationally the US get a lot of flack for having an infatuation with their flag. However, in Canada you can't throw a Beaver without hitting 5 things that have the maple leaf logo on it. Is is just because the maple leaf is slightly less garish than the Stars and Stripes?

It's probably that the maple leaf has been a Canadian symbol from long before its use on the flag.

The Canadian flag has an attractive design. The US flag, not so much -- time for a makeover.

One of the same group of people who keep mucking about with company logos, making all these so-called 'changes' and 'modernizations' to the classic original — when it's really just 'make-work' for the sake of job security.

I rest my case; there's no contest:

OK, I'll give you this one. After all, a flag was originally a rallying banner, meant to be easily identified in the fog, smoke, dust, and hubbub of battle, so of course the clearer and simpler — and as dissimilar to your opponent's banner as possible — the better.
But in a lot of cases, graphic arts/graphic design — as it applies to existing products and imagery — just means changing a font or type face; getting cute with things
(like hiding an arrow in the empty space of the FedEx logo, or making it so the embroidery at the neckline of the Wendy's hamburger character reads 'MOM'); or eliminating what they perceive as 'clutter', like the way Subaru re-arranged their six-star logo so that it doesn't even look like the Pleiades any more, just six stars in a random pattern.

What are those at the bottom of the crest on the old flag?
As to redesigning the US flag:
I honestly don't think we could do better at this point.
We'd probably end up with the Gadsden Flag or worse.

The Canadian Red Ensign was never officially a national flag, and yes, the shield therein contains maple leaves (which were originally green before being changed to red in 1957) precisely because the maple leaf had become a Canadian symbol when it was created.

Wales' late defeat by France to end their Six Nations Grand Slam hopes will haunt them for years to come.
They were 30-27 up and in possession when they were caught off their feet and conceded a penalty in the final minute, playing with 13 men, and France took the chance to score.

Except this one . . .
I don't know .... but I think this one tops either of them.
Seriously — an eagle sitting on a cactus eating a rattlesnake?? That's about as bad-ass as it comes.
