here, but I've cut & pasted all you really need to see to get my point. It's an article on
Disneyland's newly revamped Snow White ride....
.......The new ride includes a more comprehensive storyline — but that's also the problem. The new grand finale of Snow White's Enchanted Wish is the moment when the Prince finds Snow White asleep under the Evil Queen's spell and gives her "true love's kiss" to release her from the enchantment. A kiss he gives to her without her consent, while she's asleep, which cannot possibly be true love if only one person knows it's happening.
Haven't we already agreed that consent in early Disney movies is a major issue? That teaching kids that kissing, when it hasn't been established if both parties are willing to engage, is not OK?........
I really want to go out and kill a
Social Justice Warrior right now. I'll use something like the Snow White PTSD defense at trial. I'm sure I'll be acquitted.

Actually, the next interpretation will be that Snow White was in a drug-induced coma
(the poisoned apple, remember?), and the topic will shift to why they sent for a prince instead of a doctor.
And then we'll have the 'Me Too' bunch putting forth the hypothesis that the prince was actually in league with the Wicked Queen. She used a powerful sedative
(again, the poisoned apple) so he could work his wicked ways,
à la Cosby
et al, on her.
Now let's look at Sleeping Beauty. Again, a coma — but this time the questions will focus on just who was making the life-support decisions on her behalf
(in the Disney story it's the three Good Fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, who modify the death curse into 'a deep sleep') and what veiled interest they might had had by keeping her in such a vegetable-like state.

You gotta be kidding me. Requiring conscious approval and consent from both parties before fucking, or even trying to steal second or third base? That's one thing. But a kiss??
So now parents can't kiss their sleeping children at night, or a husband wake his wife in the morning with a kiss because there must be conscious approval and consent from both parties??

Dales, not sure I agree there. I'm often offended by Joe Guy but it doesn't make me happy.

And of course there are problems with the name, S*** W****. I suggest Robertx Rainbow - sufficiently inclusive and non-gendered.
Metrically speaking, S*** W**** is a spondee - two long beats. If we need to preserve the original meter so it can easily be substituted into songs and even dubbed into animated movies, we could have Kyle Pride. Non-gendered with just a hint of inclusivity.

I remember a song our high school men's chorus used to sing; an old middle-English drinking song entitled "Three Jolly Coachmen," who were all of good cheer, imbibing freely, and toasting all and sundry while steadily lowering the measure of the landlord's stock of strong beverages.
One of the lyrics/toasts went something like ...
"Here's to the maid who steals a kiss then runs to tell her mother.

Methinks these two writers from the SF Gate are a couple of the 'foolish, foolish things' that we were singing about.
Or, being from San Fran, they're more likely a pair of heterophobic carpet-munchers.

Disney could have avoided this way back in the days of yore. Should have made the movie with the REAL story - that the prince escorted the "dead" Snow White in her glass coffin until a stumble caused the poisoned apple bite to be ejected from her gob. Then they kiss with full consent. (Not that Sleeping Beauty rip-off kiss)
Come to that, why didn't they have the REAL end in which the prince condemns the witch queen to wear red-hot shoes and dance herself to death?
Far less objectionable all round.

You know, if a person is unconscious and you happen upon them, there is implied consent. So do a few rescue breaths and see where it leads to, but if she wakes up and says no and slaps you in the face, it's a no.
I saw the above on the book of faces and have not laughed so hard and so long for ages.
