A Bit of a Dilemma

Post by Big RR »

Recently, a friend (who lives nearby) contacted me for advice, and I figured I'd thro it out to all of you to see what you think. His neighbor has a young (15 years old) daughter who sunbathes in the nude in her backyard, when no one else is at home, sometimes alone, sometimes with (female) friends. The backyard is surrounded by a solid 7 - 8 foot fence so no one can see in, but he can see from an upstairs window (the way the properties are arranged, it appears he is the only one who can see her). He gets along OK with her father (but is hardly a friend) and says he thinks he should tell him know. I cautioned against it as it is likely her dad could get angry and not believe him (He suggested he could take a few pictures, but I told him that could open him to a charge of child pornography), and the situation could get very animated. He said he could also speak to her, but I cautioned against that because she may complain to her father that he is always spying on her and that he made up the nude allegation. His wife gets along better with the mother and could talk to her, but I suggested he think long and hard before she did that as it could likely go very badly.

We discussed his sending an anonymous letter, but given the way the houses are arranged it would be pretty clear who sent it, so I suggested not to.

He also asked if he should tell the police, but my research indicated that she is likely doing nothing illegal as she is on her own property in a fenced yard, so nothing could likely be done, and the cops may brand him a pervert for bringing it up.

Personally, I think the best thing to do is to ignore it and stay away from that window unless he has to go near it. It should be over in a month or 6 weeks, and next year may not even start up again.

Does anyone disagree or have any other ways to handle it?

Get a pull down blind for the window and keep his mouth shut. Anything he says at this juncture is not going to sound good.

I agree with you. Ignore it. Since her father is not a close friend there's no telling how he will respond and/or deal with his daughter. I can't think of anything good that would result from him bringing it to his neighbor's attention.

P.S. The idea of taking pictures is a terrible idea.

This.

Also, it's none of his business what goes on in his neighbor's yard as long as no one is getting hurt. If the girls want to sunbathe nude, they have every right to, and he doesn't have to be a creep about it. He's old enough to know how to avert his eyes.
GAH!

Why doesn’t your friend just pull the blind and mind his business? Does he need the girl’s parents to deliver him from temptation?

What she said. At some point, her parents may figure it out anyway. You know, no tan lines...
Or maybe they know and don't care.

Well I'm glad to hear that we all are in agreement. As I said, I thought nothing good would come from telling her father.

Go around and verify the veracity of what he says...

Make sure she has her mates there too.

Before the usual humour-free denizens chip in, this is "a joke".

Yes because leering at naked teenaged girls is so funny and cool.

Very Donald Trump of you.

Now, now--it was said in jest and no one intends to go and leer. I know I won't, and I don't think gob would pay all that money to come here just for a peep.

Dear god, it must be a great life being a humour vacuum.

I will add that your friend could sell tickets each time there is an event.

I laugh plenty - but not at the notion of perverted middle aged men leering at naked teenaged girls.

To be quite honest I bit my tongue in my earlier post as to my actual thoughts on Big RR’s seriously creepy friend. The thing to do when you realize you can see into your neighbor's otherwise very private backyard and have viewed his teenaged daughter and her friends in the nude? Shut the blind and shut your damn mouth. Obsessing about it to your bestie and dreaming up ways to humiliate the girl with the knowledge, learned from her parents, that some creepy middle aged neighbor has been ogling her body is just gross.

Yes, like a great many middle aged women, by this age I have developed intolerance for the nastiest aspects of the males of the species. All done simpering and pretending to laugh along at terrible sexist jokes that objectify my sisters. Sorry not sorry.

Ok, fine, but...

...you overhear your mates at the pub having this conversation...

...then you realize they are talking about your daughter.

Are you still laughing?

Sure, I believe that.

Now pee on my other leg and tell me it's raining.

If he did pee on your leg then you would declare it a hurricane.
