Now that would be clever; a liberal government would

Post by liberty »

Now that would be clever; a liberal government would be financing your gunsmithing hobby. Don’t tell me this would be illegal. There is nothing in these buyback programs that requires the seller to be a criminal. And there is no reason the seller can’t make a profit. After all, many of the buyback guns are most likely stolen. If I can believe what I read, the beauty of this gun is that it is so cheap and straightforward to make you can’t help but make a profit. And you could maximize profit by using mild steel instead of gun steel; they would work for a limited number of shots. And they would probably never be fired but be melted down. There is nothing wrong with people taking advantage of an opportunity presented by a silly liberal program.

Here's the Simplest Homemade Pistol from Mark Serbu (gunsamerica.com)

Mark Serbu of Serbu Firearms is gauging interest on an extremely simple homemade single-shot rimfire pistol kit. The design has only four main components and all can be made easily at home with just a few common tools.

Serbu’s gun, the GB-22 — for Gun Buyback .22 — is primarily built around a frame or receiver, a barrel, a slide and a spring. All four components can be manufactured from basic stock materials including the spring, which is music wire turned around a drill bit. Other components and features can be added to the design but as it is it’s a complete, functioning firearm.

why is it a "silly liberal program"? I can understand "liberal" as you tend to call everything you don't like "liberal", but why is providing a financial incentive to take guns off the street "silly"? You want to take advantage of the law? Go right ahead; it will eventually be updated to prevent this loophole if it becomes popular. But even if it is not perfectly conceived or drafted, it's hardly "silly".

I better not find out that you ever took advantage of that 'liberal' "Cash for Clunkers" program, then.
And I'm sure your 'liberal' COVID stimulus checks went uncashed, too.

I also hope liberty isn't accepting any of that liberal Social(ist) Security money.

Just another thought , which was also raised in the article and commentary: (link here — https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/here ... de-pistol/ — by the way)

While some amateur gunsmiths would be able to put together something like this and make a couple bucks on a buyback,
  • 1) not everybody is going to have a waterjet or laser cutter to make the necessary parts.  And if you've ever tried to hack-saw even one of something, you know that it ain't all that quick and easy, either.  Now multiply that by the number of units you want to build, and .... ?

    2) to REALLY take advantage would require you to flood the buyback with these home-made zip-guns.  Since most buybacks AREN'T announced weeks or months ahead of time, you'd have to build a batch and stockpile them, or at least their raw parts ... which is tying up a certain amount of your working capital.
And as was noted, the buybacks aren't that frequent, and don't pay a heckuvalot.  So even if you can make this for $25 (time, material, and labor, and I personally think it would run more than that) and 'sell it back' for $50, you're still never going to get rich that way.  You'd be better off dumpster-diving for aluminum beer cans.

I don't recall you stating that you're opposed to socialism but it's surprising that you would support any socialist-type program since you despise all "liberals" and they are the people who promote socialist programs.

No, you cannot have done such a thing. That statement is comprehensible.

I don’t despise liberals; I like and even love some; my oldest granddaughter is liberal, and I love her. I am hoping she will outgrow it. As I said, I don’t despise liberals; it is just that some of their ideas are silly and some are just downright stupid and dangerous; Like bear whispering. Anyone who goes around grizzly bears without a high-powered weapon and the ability to kill them is just stupid. There are other silly liberal ideas, like the US forest should be untouched and primitive, and there is no such thing as voter fraud.

Please provide a quote from anyone who says there is "no such thing as voter fraud".

I have heard many people say that voter fraud is too insignificant to matter. But no one who has claimed that it doesn't exist at all.

Care to find someone who said that?

Didn't think so.

The only "silly" liberal ideas are the ones you have invented out of the hollowness of your brain.

Bear whispering? I looked through my copy (dog eared and tatty, but still readable) of the George Soros Playbook and couldn't find it. Do you have a page reference, lib? Thanks in advance.

It costs about $3 to get material at Home Depot to make a crude but functioning slam-fire shotgun. I've seen the pictures of them turned in.

You've seen pictures of something that someone claimed were functioning guns that they claimed were turned in. Could also have been completely staged for the benefit of someone gullible enough to believe it.

The forest comment makes no sense.

Regarding voter fraud, people who are claiming the fraud was so bad that it gave Biden 7 million more votes than Trump are the ones who have "silly ideas".

I saw photos of crude slam-fire shotguns that were turned in at a gun "buyback". At least some of the photos were taken by the police department.

Those last three photos were not taken at the location of the buyback. They were taken in someone's basement by someone claiming they turned it in to the buyback.

So thanks for proving my point. Someone claimed they turned in those weapons, but no actual proof they did so.

Anyone can make a crude shotgun FFS.
