I guess a death at 99 should cause no surprise but this was quite unexpected for me. I was looking forward to her 100th as were many. Bye bye Betty, see you over the rainbow bridge.

It also marks the death (December 28) of Dr. Robert Bruce Flanders, noted local historian for the Missouri Ozarks. And the college instructor who had the most influence on my life.
I will celebrate the entrance of 2022 by staying home alone and eating my own version of Hoppin John as my first food of the new year.
