I was working under the same premise, but was using a word with two vowels and three of the five most common consonants in English. Took your suggestion — starting with a word with three vowels — for Monday's word with the following result:

So I've played seven games since I found this... four words in three guesses, one required four, and it took me five guesses for the other two.
And of course, this makes me miss Katherine (Katie Barefoot) all the more. I think she would have enjoyed a little time-killer like this too.
