Cat & Dog Friends...

Post by Joe Guy »

I don't usually click on these types of videos and didn't think I was going to enjoy it but it brought a smile to my face.

Here's a selfie of me smiling....

Sure, but . . . . one of the early comments:

"it's sweet how she rolls over onto her back to show how she's just playing :)"

That's the body language signal among dogs, but for cats, that is a basic attack position to bite and claw at the guts and underbelly.

I wish my pets were as collegial, but they get along like cats and dogs.

I think in this case the dog is saying 'go ahead and attack me. I dare you'. And the cat isn't afraid to take him up on his offer.

When the cat meows, is she saying "come on, buddy, let's play some more," or "I'm warning you, mongrel, I will rip your throat out if you don't fuck off and leave me alone"?

Definitely playing. I don’t detect even the slightest hint of annoyance.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

My dog Riley plays like this with one of my cousin's cats who is a bit of an arrogant ass. The first time he saw the dog, sitting on the sofa next to my cousin getting petted by her, he walked up, touched noses with the curious friendly dog, then bitch slapped her. He gets very jealous of anyone else getting my cousin's affections. Anyway ever since they do this sparring thing but always the dog has a very healthy respect for the cat, who is easily 15+ pounds and has all his death blades intact.

One thing I noticed in the video is that I didn’t see the cat extend its claws. It’s interesting because every cat I’ve played with has used its claws on me. Just like they do when attacking a cat toy.
