Here We Go Again....

Post by Joe Guy »

I received this on 6/15. I had thought this particular scam had been abandoned long ago. I wonder how many people have believed and responded to it. I remember my brother - back in the early internet days - deciding to play along with one of these scammers - he spoke to someone on the phone and scheduled a meeting with him. I don't recall anything becoming of it. I think my brother just quit playing along after he scheduled a meeting.

The nostalgia of old scams can be fun. My favorite is the Spanish prisoner. It has been a while but less than year, since I answered the phone and heard on the other end: High Grandpa. How are you? I had some bad luck and now I am in jail. . . .

I had a telemarketer a while back tell me he was in Honduras. He may not have been a scammer, but probably was. His Indian accent belied him, so I asked "En que cuidad esta"? (What city are you in?) CLICK That high school Spanish sure comes in handy once in a while.
