Apparently the keepers of Madison’s legacy at his old plantation Montpelier in Virginia are keen for Lizzo to meet up with the crystal flute again in a performance in house.

Good for her playing his flute. Who cares? Next up, Monica playing Bill's single-reed?

But really - she's nothing to be ashamed of except that dreadful wearing of underwear in public
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Examples?

James Bradley, who is currently running for US Senate in California, compared Lizzo's performance to somebody taking "a dump on the American flag."
Plenty more in the article and if you Google ‘Lizzo + crystal flute’ you’ll find many article discussing the right wing meltdown on social media over this fat black woman touching Madison’s flute and how it was a desecration. Lots and lots of examples of the hating on Lizzo and the black woman librarian of Congress who let her touch it.

Permitting someone like Lizzo to tootle away on the irreplaceable crystal artifact, especially since her primary claim to fame and notoriety is NOT related to her abilities on the flute, seemed at first like another case of 'what a celebrity wants, the celebrity gets', on a par with the equally questionable act of allowing Kim Kartrashian to wear Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress — and I'm sure there are many people who still feel this way.  And I was one of them...

Although I will admit that — once I learned that Lizzo did have some cred as to her abilities as a woodwind player — I've revised that line of thinking.  My only thought about the matter now is that there are several other classically-trained flautists who would be equally qualified to be given the opportunity to play the instrument.  Are they also going to be granted clearance to take the museum piece out on loan for performances?

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I meant real people, not the unbridled fuckjtards you have running for your government.

Well if you won't click on BSG's link, maybe you'll click on this one?

This is honestly the dumbest "controversy" imaginable and just goes to show how truly despicable the right-wing outrage manufacturing industry is. They're desperate for a new culture war hook because they're losing so hard on abortion. Ramping up the racism, misogyny and white grievance might not be working so well anymore. But that's literally all they've got.
GAH!

Instruments in the LoC collections are played often. It is sometimes a condition imposed by the donor that they be played. Something I read about this particular flute (but haven't tried to verify) is that there is concern about the effects of heat transfer (from hands and stage lights) if it were to be played for any prolonged period of time (hence Lizzo only played a few notes on it both while at the LoC and at her concert).

Did click on it, saw it was just another turd brained republican senator, and thought nothing of it.
