POTUS PITA visit

Post by Long Run »

Presidents have to be able to go on trips, even purely political electioneering trips like the one Biden is on. But man what a pain in the a$$. They are asking people to work from home if possible and to be ready to get stuck in road closures if they travel. They, of course, cannot announce the itinerary for safety purposes so you cannot plan to stay away from one of the closure/mess areas. One thing seems clear, though, if the president is having to come to a deep blue state like Oregon to stump for the D candidates for governor and a couple of metropolitan house races, you can have a pretty good idea of how things are likely to turn out on the first Tuesday of November.

I don't know what you're bitching about. How much traffic congestion could there even be in the ruins of Portland, which everyone knows was burned to the ground two years ago by armies of BLM and Antifa super-soldiers and is now just a barren wasteland?
GAH!

Not too far from the truth, though they are just one of the triumvirate that have ruined downtown (office vacancy rate has gone from 10% to 40%). Explosion of homeless and the D.A. policy to not enforce the law also are major factors. (The work from home is a minor factor as there is a strong demand for offices outside of downtown).

How tough can it be to avoid (1) the area around the airport, (2) the area around whatever venue at which he is scheduled to appear, and (3) the shortest, most logical route between these two points — especially in a city the size of Portland?

And speaking of PITA campaign visits ... when the other guy travels to rehash his lies and whip his cult followers into a frenzy, I know he still enjoys Secret Service protection as a past-POTUS.  But is he still being schlepped around on US Gov't aircraft, paid for out of the federal exchequer?

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Mebbe so but if so, it's a bit unusual. NPR was reporting the other day on how D candidates are desperate that Biden should stay the heck away from their campaigns. They don't want the cement overshoes affixed to their feet
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
