I'm getting the Spousal Unit a flying lesson. (It's not Paris ... yet.)

My husband already flies which I hate. He owns 1/12 of a plane.

I promise you after that first lesson it’s one thing after another.

It can't possibly be worse than a boat.

There is much less opportunity to crash and burn in a boat. However, boat ownership is physically taxing. One has many friends who want to go out on the boat then they disappear into the woodwork like cockroaches when it’s time to take the boat out of the water.
It is fun to fly to the casino etc but I am perpetually terrified.

More projection. Or are you just drunk?

You're not worth the effort. You're just a little field-goal dog, yapping loudly as you attempt to bite my ankles. Go away, fido.

Having no clue what a 'field-goal dog' is, and wondering if it is one of those pop culture things that has passed me by, or they never cc'd me on the memo, I tried Mr Google. I'm no wiser, but I did come across this story on Reddit:
A Jets fan walks into a bar with his dog.
The bartender says, "Hey bud, no pets allowed in here."
The man says, "But wait! This is a special dog, you have to turn on the game to see. When the Jets score, my dog does flips!"
Sure enough, when the bartender turns on the game, the Jets make a few field goals and the dog starts flipping and jumping after each kick.
"Wow," said the bartender, amazed, "that's great! What does he do when they score a touchdown?"
"I don't know, I've only had him for two years."

A field-goal dog - one of many tiny breeds worth 3-points if you kick them through the posts (or 1 point for a conversion). For any other purpose, such dogs are useless little balls of frenetic barking.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I used to have a low opinion of little ankle biting yappers, but my client’s daughter adopted two of them from rescue over the last year and they are such a joy! They bring much laughter to my hospice work and I very much look forward to seeing their funny faces greeting me at the door each shift. I’m still grateful to have my very quiet low key little collie mix dog, but I can see a possible future where as an elder on a fixed income a little field goal dog might be just the ticket.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

We are on our second little dog (the last one was about 10 lbs, she's around 8) and she is indeed a delight. She is highly intelligent adn loves to just curl up in your lap. We needed to get a little hypoallergenic dog due to my wife's allergies, and I was surprised how much I could take to a dog that size. I think they are especially gold for older seniors as many do not need as much exercise as a big dog
