Has Your Security Been Breached?

You can check here.

If so, you should freeze your credit reports at Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.

A search at the above link shows that my info, including SSN, is out there on the Dark Web and wherever else evil lurks out there.

Given the fact that they say nearly 3 Billion records have been exposed, including SSNs, the odds are that a lot of evil people have our information.

I suggest that everyone here freeze their credit reports, even if you don't show up on the breached info list.

I know what you're thinking. There are eight point two billion people on earth. Am I one of the three billion or am I one of five point two billion others? Well to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I've kinda lost track myself. But being that your information, including your social security number could be used to blow your financial head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question:

Do I feel lucky?

Well, do ya Plan B Punks?

I put a freeze on my credit file after someone had managed to open new credit in my name, and charge several thousands in goods and services against it (none of which ever touched me in any way).

It is only a slight inconvenience if you want to apply for new credit, just requires taking a phone call at the number prearranged with the credit bureau. It only got in my way once, when a fully online approval process didn't allow any human intervention to overcome the block.

One of the advantages of being poor is that nobody wants to steal my credit.

But I should add that I’ve had a lock on my credit file for many years, owning to everything I learned about credit reporting while a legal aid attorney.

I also have it set so nobody can send me unsolicited credit offers, which if mailed can be stolen from the mail and used to commit identity theft.

So I'm to give my full name, my state, and birth year information to a strange website (i.e. one that I have no reason to trust) in an effort to find out if someone else has got any of my personal information.... such as name. state, year of birth, oh and SSN?

I also receive texts from nice people asking questions such as: Hi! How are you? and What's the weather like there?
I block them. Made mom mad but she asked for it.

wesw wants me to tell you that he applied with your credit info for a secured credit card and it was denied for lack of a stable credit history.

You might not need to freeze your credit report...

Note: As I'm watching the democratic convention I just checked the 'Breach Check' website and Joe Biden's SSN has also been breached.

Should I email him or do you think someone else has already told him?
