Not even on a bet:
New CN Tower attraction offers a walk on the outside

Life on the edge is about to get real scary. Like 116-storeys-up scary.

Imagine this: You’re standing on an open ledge on the outside of the CN Tower. Now lean back, arms outstretched, into nothing but air 356 metres above the city.

All that holds you is a cable attached to a body harness and overhead rail.

Introducing EdgeWalk, “the most extreme experience” in the tower’s 35-year history, according to public relations people.

Opening Aug. 1, the attraction will be “the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk,” tower officials announced on Monday.

It will offer thrill seekers a heart-stopping, 360-degree panorama as they walk a 1.5-metre-wide platform a distance of 150 metres around the top of the main pod.

participants will be able to walk around the outside of the tower while being
hooked onto an overhead rail. It opens Aug. 1.

I wonder how they are going to get the harness portion that is connected to the ring over the supports that hold up the ring?

I'd do it but only if they leave off the harness.

I confess that I might be lying about that. In fact you might not even get me close to the thing. Looking up at it would cahse me to be dizzy.

No friggin way.....i can't get any closer than about a metre from the windows at the top of the Q1 building!
Image

At 322.5 m (1,058 ft) and with a roof height of 275 m (902 ft), Q1 qualifies as the world's second tallest all-residential building when measured to the top of its structural point (spire), but is the world's third tallest behind The Torch at 348 metres in Dubai and Melbourne's Eureka Tower (roof height of 297.3 metres, 975 ft) when measured to its roof height and highest inhabitable floor. However, according to the ranking system developed by the US-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the main criterion by which heights are ranked is the height of the top of the spire, qualifying Q1 as the taller.

I did the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk with Gob and two of his hipster friends.

The female hipster was making all these big noises about how scared she was and carrying on like a right stupid chop.

Me, on the other hand, was that terrified I was unable to make a sound OR look down for a second. I spend the whole time with my heart racing to unfathomable speeds and staring straight up at the night sky. I almost made it out without brown trousers until the time came to walk across the pinnacle of the bridge to the other side. I was half way across and a complete and utter tosser decided to jump up and down on the platform. Well, that set me right off. I gripped both railings with my hands and looked down.

How I am not still up there I do not know.

The rest of the climb was wiped from my memory.

Already done:
In 1975, a member of the CN Tower's construction crew parachuted off the building — at 1,815 feet (553 m), the world's tallest free-standing structure — and was promptly fired.
These days there is so much development around it that I'm not sure if it would be possible without landing on or whacking into the side of another building on the way down.

I work with a guy who used to be terrified of heights...anything higher than a stepladder paralysed him. He decided to face it head-on: in the Army, he signed up for Airborne training. Heights no longer bother him.

But SMF, does that mean you can no longer dance on elevated stages, then? What about 6" heels?

*runs* :D
