in a kinda stupid way...
A
13-year-old boy was interrogated at his school by Secret Service agents without his mother's permission after posting a message about Osama Bin Laden on Facebook.
Following the Al Qaeda leader's death, Tacoma schoolboy Vito LaPinta wrote on his Facebook page that President Barack Obama should be be wary of repercussions.
'I was saying how Osama was dead and for Obama to be careful because there could be suicide bombers,' he said.
A week later he was sitting in class at Truman Middle School, Washington, when he was called into the principal's office.
Vito said: 'A man walked in with a suit and glasses and he said he was part of the Secret Service.
'He told me it was because of a post I made that indicated I was a threat toward the President. I was very scared.'
The Tacoma school district admitted a Secret Service agent questioned the boy and a security guard called the child's mother because the principal was on another call.
The school district said they did not wait for Vito’s mother to get there because they thought she didn't take the phone call seriously.
'My 13-year-old son is supposed to be safe and secure in his classroom and he's being interrogated without my knowledge or consent privately'
'That's a blatant lie,' claims Timi Robertson, who said she had just finished lunch with a friend when she received the phone call.
'I answered it, and it's the school security guard who's giving me a heads up that the Secret Service is here with the Tacoma Police Department and they have Vito and they're talking to him,' she said.
'I just about lost it. My 13-year-old son is supposed to be safe and secure in his classroom and he's being interrogated without my knowledge or consent privately.'
She then rushed to the school only to discover her son had already been questioned for half an hour.
The seventh grader said that once his mother arrived the agent finished the interview and told him he was not in any trouble.
Ms Robertson said she isn't financially able to take legal action but hopes the episode raises awareness about the treatment she said her son endured.
The Seattle branch of the Secret Service did not respond to requests for comment.

Indeed. That is one of the reasons that I do Not do "Face Book".
However, it would be naive to believe that obscure BBS boards are not under similar scrutiny.

Now I might be wrong and I can't say this is the total facts of the subject
Here the story
I was told if you use a selection of words in any phone conversation in Australia you will or can have your call recoreded and it may or may not be scrutinised by our Federal Police.
Now a made mate and I decided to try this out, after a long call we both said bomb, plane, building, binladin.
After that you can hear a click and a very quiet buzz. (yes that might be normal line noise I haven't tryed listening before this)
I was told that is the call now being transfered to the FP datter bank. As all calls in Aus are now diggitally sent they can be recoreded easily
I feel sorry for the pore bastards that have to listen to the 3 hours of shite Fats and I talk. We call each other about every 6 months and catch up.
Well we do live in a free society, this is the price of freedom?
Funny how a kid posts something like this and the The big boys turn up. A girl posted on her Face Book "I am going to kill myself I can't cope"
Even afer her school friend told the police and then the girl's parents nothing was done till after she was dead and then the parents said we had no idea.
Make me think anyway

The school district said they did not wait for Vito’s mother to get there because they thought she didn't take the phone call seriously.
If that
had been her reaction, she would have had the distinction of being the only one in this whole sorry sequence of events who reacted properly....
Your tax dollars at work....
But here's what I want to know...
How did a kid with the last name "Robertson" wind up with a first name like "Vito"?
Are his parents big
Godfather fans?

The mother's last name is Robertson. The kid's last name (and presumably the father's) is LaPinta.
And anyone who had anything to do with this should be out of a job and forced to walk the street wearing a dunce cap and a sandwich board that says "I am an idiot".

Local schools (Jefferson County, Pine Bluff in particular) have police presence during school hours.
When I used to do public school "inspections" officers questioned kids on a routine basis...

For actions unrelated to school business?

It is perfectly legal for the police to question a minor that is not in custody without their parent(s) present. This often happens when an officer has a reasonable belief that a minor has violated the law. In such a case, the officer can detain the minor to conduct an investigation and during this initial detention, police are not required to let a minor call his parents.
ymmv?

I am an interview friend.
If a minor's parents are unable to be found, or unwilling to attend, I am called out to sit with the kid whilst the police interview them.
If they don't want me, the interview does not happen.
(Though this does only occur when they have already been pulled into the watch-house.)

Facebook seems a great way for kids to get themslves in the crap..
CONCORD, N.H. --
The mother of a Concord middle school student is decrying the school district after her daughter was suspended due to a Facebook post.
Kimberly Dell'isola said her daughter was suspended for five days after saying she wished Osama bin Laden killed her math teacher.
While she agrees the post was offensive, Dell'isola said her daughter's free speech should be protected.
"In hindsight, she's mortified that she said that, but she's a 13-year-old kid," Dell'isola said.
She said she frequently checks her daughter's Facebook page, but she hadn't logged on the day of the incident.
Dell'isola said she didn't find out about the incident until she got a call from the school's principal.
What Do You Think? Comment On Our Facebook Page (
Irony Much? Gob.)
She said she agrees with the administrators at Rundlett Middle School that the post was wrong, but thinks the punishment is too harsh.
"You are denying her an education based on something she did at home. That's my business, not your business," Dell'isola said.
She said that while her daughter's profile did have privacy settings on, a parent of one of her daughter's friends reported the post.
"They asked her to open her Facebook and she complied because she generally does what she's told," Dell'isola said.
The mother holds that the issue is a parenting one, and not school related. She said she expressed that sentiment to Principal Tom Sica.
"He just said what she said was really awful. I started laughing and said I agree with you there, but how did it come to you deciding to throw her out of school," Dell'isola said.
She said that while her daughter's suspension is over, she has not returned to class out of fear of facing the teacher she made the comment about.
Dell'isola wants the school to remove her from the class and give her a private math tutor instead.
"She's anxious to go back and terrified to go back all at the same time," Dell'isola said.
Sica said he could not comment about the incident because of student privacy rights.

Listening to the mother makes it clear where the daughter gets the idea that it's ok to wish violence upon her teachers.
While she agrees the post was offensive, Dell'isola said her daughter's free speech should be protected.
Threatening someone with death is protected speech? The brat is lucky the teacher didn't file a criminal complaint.
"You are denying her an education based on something she did at home. That's my business, not your business," Dell'isola said.
Who the fuck cares where a death threat against a teacher was issued. It's still a death threat.
She said that while her daughter's suspension is over, she has not returned to class out of fear of facing the teacher she made the comment about.
Dell'isola wants the school to remove her from the class and give her a private math tutor instead.
If she wants the vicious cunt she raised to have a private tutor she should pay for it. The teacher should demand the little bitch be housed in a cage while in his class in the meantime.
