Doughnut Burger? New Food at State Fairs Sounds Yummy but Deadly
By Aina Hunter
(CBS) What do you call a bacon cheeseburger served not on a bun but between two Krispy Kreme doughnuts?
A slice of heaven - or a coronary sandwich?

This popular item at the Indiana state fair was cooked up by Dennis Reas, 53, of the southern Indiana city of Corydon.
The Reas family are the same folks behind chocolate-covered bacon and deep-fried butter, according to the Indianapolis Star.
They sell innovative food at fairs around the country, but it should be noted that they can't lay claim to the Doughnut Burger - it's been around awhile, as reported by CBS News.
If you happen to be in the Indianapolis area, there's still more than a week left of the state fair to go, so you can still give the Doughnut Burger a try.
But know that it will take a lot of running, or biking, or whatever your sport of choice, to burn off those calories.
What sort of nutritional hit will you take from downing a Doughnut Burger?
We don't have an official count from the Reas family, but based on the ingredients we estimate the damage at approximately 844 calories and 56 grams of fat. Hope you don't plan on eating again until tomorrow, because that's 86 percent of your daily fat intake.
If the Doughnut Burger isn't your thing, there are many other fat and calorie bombs at the Indiana state fair, the paper reports. There's deep-fried sushi, deep-fried dill pickles, deep-fried candy bars, chocolate-covered popcorn balls, and root-beer marinated ribs.
And then there's a pork patty covered with pulled pork on a bun.
They call that the Garbage Burger.
