A transsexual yesterday lost a publicly funded battle to force the NHS to give her a breast enlargement.

The 58-year-old, who is technically still a man, has been living as a woman for more than a decade and said larger breasts would make her 'feel feminine'.

Her legal battle, which has lasted for 19 months, is believed to have cost the taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds.

She now plans to launch an appeal - which could be legally-aided.

The woman, who cannot be named but was referred to as C, was diagnosed as a transsexual in 1996.

She started hormone therapy but was described as being in physical and psychological 'limbo' after her bust failed to develop sufficiently.

C, from the Reading area, has been trying to get funding from her local primary care trust to have her breasts enlarged for 'several years'.

Her lawyers argued during the three-day High Court hearing that the refusal violated her human rights and amounted to sex discrimination.

But giving judgment, Mr Justice Bean said: 'There was no duty in either public law or discrimination law to classify all treatment and procedures sought by transsexuals as high priority or core procedures.'

There must be thousands of women in the UK who would like bigger norks to "feel feminine". Should the taxpayer fund all of these ops?

On the plus side for her, taking this to the High Court... which I'm sure will be followed by the European Court of Human Rights... will at least give her the appearance of being a huge tit!
