I know because tonight the first fireflies are out. A couple of weeks early, but I'm ready.

I can't remember the last time I saw a firefly...not since I moved to CA, I'm sure.

The city lawn-mowing sheep have been shorn.
They look so skinny, now! ...but cooler.

I got a serious sunburn today in spite of slathering myself with sunscreen. I also sweated out every toxin in my body.
I hate summer, I would be happy in a repeating cycle os spring and fall.

We had fireflys tonight. We were all hanging out after our respective barbecues were over and the toddler from next door started running after one.

On the way to the cabin I windshielded a lightening bug. The green flash startled the hell out of me.
I also got my first burn of the summer, as did TheKid. Got the dock put in, spent a few hours just sittin' on the dock, reading, enjoying the quiet.
Woke every morning to the cries of loons and the coos of mourning doves.
I hate the heat, but damn do I love being at the cabin.

We don't have fireflys but we have dragonflys- Big Blue Ones! Good!
...and mosquitoes (little flys). Bad!

Note what what we call mosquitos and what Peruvians call mosquitos are completely different (with the exception that they bite)
