I hope that those responsible for this outrage are held accountable and prosecuted to the full extent under military law.

Mrs Clinton expressed her "total dismay" at the video and promised that those responsible would be held accountable.
"It is absolutely inconsistent with American values, with the standards of behavior that we expect from our military personnel and that you know the vast, vast majority of our military personnel, particularly our marines, hold themselves to," she said.
The online video showed four US Marines in combat fatigues laughing as they relieved themselves over three bodies lying in the dust at their feet. Nato forces in Afghanistan fear that outrage over the desecration of Muslim bodies will incite more violence.
Investigators are reported to have identified two men involved in the video. All involved are believed to be from from the 3rd Battallion, 2nd Marine Regiment, which is based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Edited to add: reminds me of the low-IQ individuals who post their criminal activities on U-Toob for all the world to see.

I think Sec. Clinton got that exactly right...
So did Sec. Panetta:
Panetta said the actions, if confirmed, were inexcusable.
“I have seen the footage, and I find the behavior depicted in it utterly deplorable. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” Panetta’s statement said. “Those found to have engaged in such conduct will be held accountable to the fullest extent.”

That's because there doesn't appear to be any dispute about the fact that these were Taliban fighters who were killed legitimately in the course of combat.
Which doesn't excuse this.

While this act was in very poor taste, read they should have not captured it on film. Again: War is hec!
It seems akin to such censorship that allows young people to feed theirs minds on a continuous and never ending diet of bodies being blown to tiny bits; but God help us all if they should happen to see a tit or two people making love... *Spit!*

I'll be the first to admit that I have absolutely no military background but wouldn't it make more sense to train troops to respect rather than hate the enemy?

Yeah, when the average person kills someone who was, you know, shootin' at them and trying to kill them, they're usually deeply respectful of the physical remains. Its just unnatural for people put into a life or death situation to be slightly aggrieved at those who went a good deal out of their way to put them there. Isn't it?
Bad judgement, yes.
Understandable? Yes again.

These guys weren't drafted, they weren't the guard thinking they would never go to war, they waited to get into scout sniper they trained hard and hoped they could get out and kill.

Keld is right; these guys were in a highly skilled and trained unit; there is no excuse for this whatsoever.
Trying to put the blame off on politicians, or war in general, etc., etc, just doesn't cut it.

Not the Emily Post etiquette and good manners killing. Just the old fashioned garden variety kill or be killed sort of killing.
What exactly is your definition of war? Last I heard it was about killing people and to the victor go the spoils.
And it's not like they had a necklace of ears around their necks. Frankly I think that your righteous indignation is misplaced.

Marines are all about honor, Timster. The vast majority of Marines, I believe, will view this behavior with utter contempt.

And I agree with them BSG. However, what is rubbing my fur the wrong way is that all the flag waving wannabe patriots that supported this bullshit war that I was against before it even started, don't understand that "War" is not pretty. Grrrrrrr.... just a quick reminder to all those were not up to speed that my nephew was killed in iraq as a proud and Ethical marine. Beloved by everyone he ever met.
