Mozilla vs Microsoft

Didn't know where else to put this.

I finally had enough of windows exploder freezing up every time I clicked the start menu.

So, I took the Gob's advice (years later after a weak attempt the first go round) and switched my browser once again to Mozilla FF.

Everything is/was going fine until I ran into the multimedia incompatibility fuckaroo.

This is where it started. I am trying to make a video/slide show resume of my mad skills. I have all of the files of the work in progress on my hard drive. And this is the finished product. http://www.gansercompany.com/virtualshowroom.html -and yes, that is my flooring installation. A work of art if I do say so myself. [Don't let him tell you the part where he helped install the fountain in a blizzard...ED.]

You have No idea of the logistical nightmare of working with an eccentric owner and a fresh out of school wanna make a name for herself "Designer" that scribbles down his concepts on Graph Paper and nods her head approvingly at any asinine idea (that changes DAILY!) with no regard to the material standards and says; "Oh yes, We can DO that!" I never once had a blue print! And yes I can drive over and visit anytime (the management reassured me.) Which is cool but does not really help all that much.

I just cannot view the virtual showroom video in FF.

Which led to me to:

Yes! I tried the fucking plugin from 2007 at http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows ... nload.aspx with ZERO success.

Can someone please help me sort this out? Or am I forced to grovel back to Microsoft just to incorporate / blend the whole project into a seamless whole?

Any Help will be forever and deeply appreciated. And whomever will certainly be given FULL Credit at the end of the finished presentation.

Scouts Honor! 8-)

Tim, it looks like it has been written in ".htm"?

As far as I know that's a language for writing web pages, in order for them to be viewed they would have to be hosted online somewhere.

I think!

Send Daisy and Reality Bytes a PM, and ask if they know what's the score.

OK. I edited my post for the "L".

But THAT was not my complaint. When you get to that page (now you can, thanks Gob ) and try to play the virtual tour... FF cannot play the bloody fucker without a "plugin" and the bloody plugin does NOT WORK.

What format is the "Virtual tour" in Timster?

Well my status bar says Java script when I hover over the Play Video arrow. But I just today updated ALL my media players. And I have Never had a problem with Any of my media players until I switched to Mozilla FF.

My guess is it has something to do with a technical ~ technicality. And I can only assume that it has to do with Microsoft's proprietary bullshit. Plugins be damned...

They simply don't want to make it easy for people to use another browser.

CP, do you also use Mozilla then? And did you hit the same dead end as me?

Or, maybe this is something altogether different having to do with the webmaster and I should call Jim (Ganser) and let him know that His Nationally Awarded Showroom is being FUBARed because of some wanna make a name for himself little geek prick rather than a Multi Billionaire that would actually lose money if he stopped long enough to pick up a hundred dollar bill off the sidewalk? . .. .

Doesn't play in safari either, supposed to be a quicktime vid.

Try uploading your movie to youtube and embedding that instead.

Did I ever mention that I’m on dial–up?

I also have Fire Fox and got as far as having the message that my system was being tested to determine the best streaming video format for my system. Then in less than 5 minutes the screen morphed with the QuickTime logo in the corner of the TV screen.

That is where it came to an end.

So I tried Google Chrome (definitely not faster). It took a lot longer to get nowhere.

So then I tried IE 8.0 (man this is faster than the other two). This time the VCR controls appear but no video downloaded. I can click the play button and it momentarily displays “Connecting to media” and then “Ready” but nothing happens

Thank you from the bottom of me heart, to all those that wasted their time trying to help me sort this out.

Before I continue; I need to point this out. Because it is a bit of a peeve of mine.

Let me put it thusly:

When a person takes up your time; they recognize no debt.

However, it is the Only debt that they can Never repay.

Nuff said. Thank you.

Now then. tyro That is exactly my experience.

Now come to find out that NOBODY can play the bloody thing no matter what? Really?

Ok. Jim needs to be made aware. Again thanks.

And just to clarify; The Work in progress is not in video. It is a slide show in my Media Center on the HP Pavillion. And I can move and delete or play them at will.

What I was attempting to do was make a slide show presentation and then incorporate the Ganser video for the finale'.

Economy of motion and all of that.

*Cue: Martial arts scream* WHAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAaaH~

So thanks again all. I expect to see a viewable version in the VERY near future. :ok
