Even so, I wonder what would have happened if the Wright Brothers had used flappy wings instead of propellers.

The Dutch 'bird man' who posted a video showing a successful 'test flight' of a wing suit contraption has admitted that the amazing feat was a hoax all along.
Viewers became sceptical after it emerged that no scientists actually knew 'Jarno Smeets', who claimed to have created the technology.
Now Smeets has confessed that he is actually a 'filmmaker and animator' named Floris Kaayk, and has described the faked footage as 'online storytelling'.

So, "online story teller" is what we are calling it now.
Seems a few people here could benefit from that distinction...

Yep got it.

It means the editors at Wired Science are gullible, and the magazine has lost some of it's credibility.
To their credit they didn't erase the original article and did place updates admitting it was indeed a hoax.

There is no loss of credibility as long as they treat the data honestly. Anyone can be deceived; a fool is one who ignores the evidence when it is available.
