Swedish Racism -or- Imagine If This Had Been In The US!

"In our view, this simply adds to the mockery of racism in Sweden," Kitimbwa Sabuni, spokesperson for the National Afro-Swedish Association (Afrosvenskarnas riksförbund) told The Local.
"This was a racist spectacle."
Sabuni's comments come following Adelsohn Liljeroth's participation in an art installation that took place at Stockholm's Moderna Museet in connection with World Art Day on April 15th.
As part of the installation, which was reportedly meant to highlight the issue of female circumcision, the culture minister began cutting a large cake shaped like a black woman, symbolically starting at the clitoris.
Makode Aj Linde, the artist who created the installation and whose head is part of the cake cut by the minister, wrote about the "genital mutilation cake" on his Facebook page.
"Before cutting me up she whispered, 'Your life will be better after this' in my ear," he wrote in a caption next to the partially eaten cake.

Wow, now that is a wonderful image and we are all indebted to you for ferreting it out across all of the vast expanse of the net and choosing just this thing to drag back and post for us. Like my dog bringing back a dead cat which, by its flatness and nuclear stench, I deduced was long dead and ripened past the endurance of human olfaction. And one suspects that, like that dog, you really don't know what you did that might have been better avoided. I had to bury that damn cat twice to get it deeper than her ability to resurrect it.

Racism either Swedish or American is the same, it is to be condemned.

Dale, the person who made this "art" cake and instigated the " awareness raising" installation against genital mutilation, is of African ethnicity, so were they being "racist" against thier own race? Is that even possible?
Or does it just become "racist" when a white person gets involved?

Let's see - a minister of Culture slicing into a chocolate cake clitoris?
I doubt that's racism - it is however utter bilge and symptomatic of how 'shame' is no longer valued

I have to disagree Jim and Meade, it's impossible to discuss vaginal mutilation in any polite or circumspect way without losing the impact of the message. It's a barbaric and violent practice, and should be held up for debate and yes even ridicule

Oh it's barbaric and violent - but are not those the kinds of words that 19th century imperialists used to describe the people who practised such things?
Aside from not really needing to discuss it at all in Sweden (unless it's a big problem there?), I would prefer a series of public service messages on TV. Perhaps with famous people speaking out. Clit Eastwood?
Given the more serious issue here in South Africa at least of young men dying from infections during ritual circumcisions, I wonder if a cake with a nice chocolate woody may have been more to the Minister of Kulture's taste? She could have symbolically not used a knife at all. And then licked the sim-bolics for good measure.

I think it would be appropriate to ban Meade from Plan B for 6 years and then put him on 1 week probation.
He has insulted & embarassed every clean-minded person here with his chocolate woody reference and suggestion that cake fellatio should be performed by a Swedish politician.
I suggest that anyone here who is clean-minded speak up now or forever hold your thumb up your fucking ass.
