Why?!?!?

PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) — Coconut Palm Elementary Principal Terri Thelmas, 75 students and their parents were kicked off Wal-Mart property Wednesday evening.
Were they protesting the high price of school supplies? Nope. The Miramar principal and her students were simply trying to sing “God Bless America” to honor the fallen heroes of 9-11.
According to Thelmas, the store manager gave her approval the week before to sing the one-minute song inside the Wal-Mart, located at Pines & Flamingo in Pembroke Pines.
Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, the group showed up and the manager-on-duty told them they were a “liability” and that the kids would not be allowed to sing.
So, the kids went outside the store to sing. That’s when things got ugly: the manager called Pembroke Pines police to have them removed from the property.
Thelmas doesn’t understand why, on a day reserved for patriotism and reflection, Walmart was more concerned with lawsuits than exemplifying its commitment to the local community.
But the BIG question is...
WHY THE FUCK TAKE THE KIDS TO WALLY WORLD TO COMMEMORATE 9/11?!?!?!?!?

I agree, they could have sung in frony of the school or post office and no one would (or at least should) have objected. Why Walmart?
Further, I'm not sure what "lawsuits" the principal though Walmart was concerned about. The "liability" might have just referred to the point that the store had no place they could accomodate such a crowd, including the parking lot, and still conduct business. And face it, if all they wanted to do was sing "god Bless america" they would have finished in 1 minute and left the parking lot--likely long before the police were even summoned, let alone arrived. It seems like something is missing here.

They probably picked Walmart because there would be a crowd; like picking a shopping mall.
The store manager who wouldn't let then sing is an idiot.

Wal-Mart is the center of civilization in the US. If you want to meet some particular person stake out the front of a Wal-Mart long enough and you will see them. If aliens from another world visit earth they will land the space ship in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Face it you Yankee imperialist running dog the war is over and Wal-Mart has won. Fit into the new order or expect humane and generous reeducation in your future. The ministry of love is watching you.

You never relax with a non-serous moment, do you?

There's "non-serious" and then there's "completely off the wall bizarro".

Scooter, I guess we can rule you out as the author of
A Canadian's Tribute To America, that was so popular here in the 70's?

I meant revealing about the person making the statement.

Actually, I do understand where he is coming from. Many people around here are hurting and if they can get more stuff for less money at Walmart than they can elsewhere then they are going to go and shop there. I choose not to, but I do not condemn those that are scraping by (and they seem to be in the majority now-a-days) who do shop at Walmart. Wasn't so long ago I was unemployed and looking at ways to save a buck (or more) and may have ended up shoppping at Walmart to make the bucks I did have stretch a little farther.
So, while walmart may not be the center of the universe, it certainly may be the center of the "cost conscious" and from my perspective, they seem to be the majority.

Give that man a blue ribbon and a gold star (I would have said cigar, but I don’t want to encourage smoking through inappropriate use of metaphor). Some people have the ability and some people don’t; some people can read metaphors and some people can’t; perhaps Older can do Scooter’s reading for him.

"Center of civilization" as a metaphor for "where desperately poor people go to find cheap stuff"
Perhaps someone should explain to you what "metaphor" means.

Yelp, that is what I thought.
Metaphor:
1. implicit comparison: the use to describe somebody or something of a word or phrase that is not meant literally but by means of a vivid comparison expresses something about him, her, or it, e.g. saying that somebody is a snake
2. figurative language: all language that involves figures of speech or symbolism and does not literally represent real things
3. symbol: one thing used or considered to represent another

Apparently the explanation didn't help you. Not surprised.
