Don't know where you live but they (NASA) was doing a fly-by somewhere in Texas for that senator that got shot and her hubby (commander of the last shuttle mission?) before completing it's journey to some museam in Ca.
sorry I don't remember the couples names and am too lazy to look them up, but I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about

I live 30 miles south of San Francisco. The shuttle just flew around the Golden Gate Bridge and then headed south toward Moffet field. The route was close to my house so I was able to see and hear it it very clearly. It is now headed to Los Angeles where it will stay.

Never saw the shuttle piggy-backed other than on TV. We used to get the F-14 tryouts here on LI but now it's nothing but commercial jets. Although, about a month ago, Obama was coming to the city and some guy in a piper cub violated the McCarther airspace and two national guard jets escorted him down to land in Islip. Heard their afterburners as they accelerated back up after the guy touched down. (I'm about 10 miles from McCarther airport Islip) They did a few dozen circles above the airport then boogied outta here.

So that's where all the little fockers come from.

I could hear it come over (Must be a bitch to land!). I'm glad to see a part of NASA's history has a good home and that many got to see her in person.

When the Wings of Freedom Tour (B-24J Liberator, B-17 Fortress, and P-51 Mustang) fly into Moffett, It's an awesome sight! They come in really low and in formation, and right overhead. God, the drone of the engines....there is nothing quite like it. WOOF! WOOF! I only wish there were P-61 Black Widows left.

I had forgotten about it, (for some reason I thought it was supposed to be yesterday) then I heard it, but by the time I got out in front of the house, I couldn't see it....

Endeavour was supposed to be visable from work, but they wouldn't tell us when it would fly by, and so we missed it.

For the first time in 15 years, a De Havilland Mosquito flew last week.
