Terry Vance Garner, 69, went to feed his animals last Wednesday on his farm by the coast, but never returned.
His dentures and pieces of his body were found by a family member in the pig enclosure, but the rest of his remains had been consumed.
The Coos County district attorney's office said that one of the animals had previously bitten Garner.
The animals are estimated by the authorities to each weigh about 700lb (320kg).
'Good-hearted guy'
Investigators say it is possible that the hogs knocked Garner over before killing and eating him.
But they have not ruled out the possibility that the farmer could have collapsed from a medical emergency, such as a heart attack.
A pathologist was unable to determine the cause of Garner's death and his remains have been sent to the University of Oregon to be analysed by a forensic anthropologist.
Garner's older brother, Michael, described him as a "good-hearted guy".
He said his brother had raised several large adult sows and a boar called Teddy, and they would sell their piglets to local children.
"Those animals were his life," Michael Garner, 75, told the Register-Guard newspaper.

Is this normal pig behaviour for owned pigs?
I would have thought they may be a little more discerning with who they ate, unless there was a grudge thing happening, or they were underfed. They are smarter than dogs after all.

Unfortunately yes, they're less discriminating than dogs about they'll eat, earning them the name 'Living Garbage Disposals'. I heard somewhere, that their digestion can handle some pretty rank and foul debris. ...while there are legends of serial killers using hungry pigs to dispose of bodies.

Pigs, being brighter than dogs, don't tend to kill those that feed them unless there is a reason for it.
I am well aware of their ability to eat bodies.

Did I say kill? No.
Their 70 year old owner may have expired while pig-sloppin' ...therefore becoming a body.

No. I said kill. I said kill because the owned pigs (potentially) killed their owner.
That is not normal porcine behaviour from my experience.

While it is normal for a 70 year old to die of natural causes; in the presense of pigs, they'll normally take that as 'meat on the hoof'.

I heard a news report that said he was known by locals to be very mean to his pigs. And even if that's not true, he ultimately had many of them slaughtered.
Pork Karma!
He was consumed by his obsession with pigs.
