Well this is damn annoying....

So I was watching game 3 of the NLCS....(The Cards and Giants are currently tied in the series one a piece for you folks living in uncivilized environs where such information is not considered newsworthy.)

The Giants are down 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th...(Not a great situation, but certainly not out of reach with two more at at bats coming)

And then we get a rain delay in St. Louis....and it looks like it could be a while...(at least now in post season play you're required to play all nine innings; no more playoff wins in less than nine innings due to a rain cancellation...if they can't resume play that day, they'll finish it the next, before they start the next game)

Well the weather here currently is kick ass gorgeous, (we're getting our few days of our annual Indian Summer...I'm going to fire up the 'cue in a little while...) so I figure this would be a great time to take the doggies and The Little Prince down to our neighborhood park...

So we have a nice little outing, the dogs run, the kid runs, we feed the ducks...

We're gone a little over an hour, and the game hasn't resumed yet....

That's okay, from the storm system on the radar, it looked like it would take awhile....

But here's the really annoying part....

Rather than stay with the announcers or run some sports highlight thing, or something else appropriate....

They went back to regular programming until play resumes....

Which in this case means Dr. Oz.... (My first clue that something was seriously amiss was when I turned the set on and was greeted with a douching product commercial....don't see a lot of those during your average baseball game....)

The Queen Mum loves this clown, but I find him to be an insipid, condescending know-it-all; all things being equal, I wouldn't have his show on for 10 seconds....

But if I turn this jackass off, I could very easily miss the last of the game.... :arg

Remind yourself why you live on the WEST COAST again, Jim

I had the radio on, no Dr. Oz there. :nana

It's now 17:48 PDT.

Oh geez Dale, how could I have been so stupid?

All I had to do was turn the TV off, turn on the radio, and then turn the TV back on when they announced on the radio that the game was ready to start....duh....

Image

Well it still hasn't started, but they still say they're going to finish it tonight, so I guess I'll take a radio out back with me, 'cause coals are just about ready....

That was all written in grammatically correct English, but I'm fucked if I can make head or tail of it.

During the period when they were waiting to see if the Yankees would play, my local station aired Seinfeld re-runs, featuring the time when George was working for Steinbrenner. Very apropos.

What are the pinstripes going to do with A-Rod? I think he still has 4 years left on his contract.

Well they have to pay him as it's a guarenteed contract. In my opinion, the seroid use has caught up to him. Maybe with no steroids, he might have had a slow decline and perhaps been able to compensate for diminished skills with knowledge of the game. Something I think Jeter has always used and excelled at. But when you rely on physical ability alone and artificially enhanced ability at that, and have not bothered to educate yourself in the nuances of the game (studying pitchers, doing the leg and mental work, etc) then teh end comes, it comes quicker.

Jeter has made a very great career "knowing" the game. Sure he had/has the physical abilities (all at that level have those abilities), but knowledge of the game lets one last longer and at a better scale than those that only rely on physical prowess.

Five, actually, and $114 million. From what I am hearing on the radio, they seem to be looking into trading him to the Marlins.

Gee whiz, I'm so old, I can remember a time when you could buy a whole ML baseball team for 114 million.....

I betting the Yankees will have to chip in on that salary if he is traded.

You're in luck Strop!

Let your heart be not troubled....

I've found a link for you where you can begin to educate yourself by watching game four of the National league Championship, on line:

http://www.usagoals.com/live/226885-nlc ... tv/gratis/

(It's not streaming video yet, but the game starts in about thirty minutes....no need to thank me, glad to lend a hand....)

This a big game....

The Giants lost that rain delayed contest 3-1, leaving them down 2-1 in the best of seven series....

If they don't even it up with a win today they'll have their backs up against the wall just as they did against the Reds, needing to win three in a row (one at a time of course) to win the championship and go on to The World Series.....

(But at least they'd have to win those three at home, rather than on the road...)

So Strop, pop up some pop corn, or break out some chips and dip, crack open a brew, and settle back to enjoy a couple of hours of a real sporting competition....

(But don't over indulge on the drinks or snacks; after so much cricket, the relative lightning speed of a baseball game might make you dizzy, and that can have a negative impact on the stomach....)

Damn, and there's me at work, with no streaming content allowed! Thanks though Jim, I would have watched.

I'm also impressed it's called the "National" championship too, and not the "Grand Master Universal Championship of all time (only US teams allowed.) " ;)

Oh drat the luck, that is a shame....

But don't despair....

No matter who wins today, there'll be at least one more game in the series, that according to my check of the time zone differences, will be starting at 11 AM your time on Saturday...

That should work out perfect for you..

I'll be sure to give you a reminder heads up.... :ok

Try MLB Gameday I don't think it requires streaming, of course that link is for the Tigers playing now.

It's not actually video in that mode but video can be chosen.

That link works fine Keld, when you put the video on full screen....

(BTW, I made a mistake, the Giants game actually doesn't start for another hour.)
I'm also impressed it's called the "National" championship too
Well you see Strop, in Major League Baseball, the teams are divided into two "leagues" (they are further divided into divisions, but I won't get into that now...baby steps... 8-) ) "The National League" and "The American League"....

Post season play determines which team from each league will face off in The World Series...

The winner of The World Series is then referred to as "The Reigning World Series Champion"
