But trick or treaters are comin' around. First time in a long time. Last year the neighborhood was too new and half empty and before that the condo just wasn't suited to trick or treating.
nice to see

Are you giving out ladles of chili?
Chris Christie canceled Halloween here. It's going to be Nov. 5 now. Just not the same.

well thanks to Sandy we've been getting cold air wind and rain dumped on us from the north. Lucky the wind has died down and the rain slowed to a light drizzle.

I was thinking broccoli sprigs....
The bunches of parsley were a big hit last year....

No, but probably for the best...
Halloween is a big night for first responders and emergency rooms, and in New Jersey they've got other priorities right now....

My wife's best friend is an ER nurse...a few years ago, Halloween fell on a Saturday, and a full moon. In her words, "Talk about the weirdos coming out of the woodwork!"

I had a little chap turn up all by himself and announce he was "Trick or Treat"ing.
This had never happened to me before.
As you know, Halloween is not an Australian tradition. However, there is a growing trend of sheeple following the marketing bandwagon, and more and more are joining in the buying of excessive sweets for no particular reason together with decorating their houses in non-seasonal themes.
But I have never seen a kid wandering by himself and never to houses that don't at least display a pumpkin.
It was awful.
"Sorry mate. I haven't got any lollies. That's why my light isn't on and I don't have any decorations out."
"Oh well."
"You can have an icecream if you like."
"No. It's all right."
He had done a fair job at smearing face paint on his face and wearing a cape and black clothes. I have no idea what he was trying to be, but he tried.
I spent the rest of the night feeling like the World's Biggest Shit.

I spend a wonderful halloween with my grandkids. Tons 'o teeth-rotting sweets enjoyed by all.
We gave out baked marmite squares, we awoke on Nov 1 to find the both parked cars gutted by fire.
Next year it's raw marmite for the lilttle beggars!

Verrry nice, thank you.
We're more than 50ft above mean high tide so the global warming thing isn't an issue, personally speaking. And at 50+ yrs of life the total effects of Republican stupidity on demographics and weather (Mo' poor babies being born! Mo' global warming to contend with) won't have so much personal impact. Everyone ELSE will hate you forever, though. But the death of the Republican party is only a good thing. You've failed. It's time for you to die, in Darwinian terms. Your philosophy has been a loser.

It's a pathetic effort to turn every fucking thread on the board into political wanking is what it is...
Have you not noticed the nice little 'Politics' forum Rooby?
Do you need somebody to explain to you how it works?
Is there someone who looks after you?

Yes, it's a form of trolling...he's done it for years...if it isn't politics, it's the Daddy Wifebucks routine...(here he seems to have done a bit of both)
But it's all in days work when you're The World's Biggest Douche Bag....

I really think Rubato and dgs have this odd political tag team performance art thing going I mean they are the perfect parody of the worst in the political extremes in this country.
Here they go following each other form board to bored with the same performance effectively parodying the worst fears of the opposition in such in such an absurdly effective manner coaxing out the worst in their partizan foils while somehow evading scrutiny as the cartoonish bogiemen that they are.

Well, I disagree with Dave all the time, and have taken him to task for a number of things, (I was absolutely appalled by something he posted earlier today) but I have to give him props over rube in at least two regards:
First, whatever you think of the content, structurally and stylistically Dave is a much better writer than rube. 90% of what rube posts is cut and pasted from other sources, and what little original content he does bring to the board (aside from his gratuitous and usually either junior high school quality or blatantly vicious insults, which comprise at least 50% of his original content) reflects a very wooden and mechanical writing style.
Second, Dave, while he engages in personal insults with people he's arguing with,( frequently he initiates it, but not always) but Dave does not engage in the peculiar practice of hurling out insults in every direction with nearly every post he writes, as rube does. (Gezzus, rube recently put up a post about chocolate fercrissakes, and couldn't even post that without hurling a gratuitous insult at the entire board... ) No, that is a pattern of behavior uniquely rube's...
He's such a completely toxic misanthrope, he personally attacks nearly everyone who disagrees with him on any subject whatsoever, whether or not that person has ever personally attacked him...(he's hurled insults at Big RR, oldr, Econo, Keld...posters who never engage in personal insults...) Rube also regularly hurls personal insults at people who express opinions he disagrees with, even if he hasn't previously posted in the thread. (He appears to be congenitally incapable of civil discourse of any sort.)
And when he's not doing that, he'll toss out insults to the entire board...(As he did in the chocolate thread, or when he decided to assert that no one here reads complete books...)
His apparently visceral need to do this is obviously just another manifestation of his richly deserved inferiority complex, and desire to make himself the object of negative attention.
Dave has never engaged in anything like that sort of behavior....

I did not say that they were the same person in fact I would say that their personality traits are used to complement the intended reaction required from the opposition.WIth Rube you know he's just not going to change from being a twat but Dove somehow gives you this bizarre inkling that some how some way he might listen to reason.

Gee, I wonder how Dave would feel about that as a nickname..."Dove"....it so neatly fits his sweet and gentle nature...
