Well...after two months of badgering, Liz is finally going for an MRI (week from tomorrow) on her knee. She had it 'scoped about 7 years ago...and she won't admit it, but it's bothering her. (Fortunately...after 16+ years of marriage, she doesn't have to admit it.) I hope she doesn't need a knee replacement. (As does she, I'm sure.)

I'm not sure who is less willing to admit they have something wrong...her or my mother!

This place didn't exist when she had her knee 'scoped...that must have been when the ramp truck she was driving got wrecked, January 2011.

Good luck to her. They're getting better and better at orthopedic repairs these days. Maybe there will be an easy and not too painful solution?

My wife had surgery on her knee not too long ago and it went well I hope your situation turns out well. Give her our best.

If she does get a knee replacement, make sure she does all the rehab and then some. Anyone I know of who had knees replaced (I know more than a few) the ones that did their rehab religiously, were up and going pretty quickly. Those that sat there and were in the pity party, are still not getting on well.
Positive attitude and do the rehab and she'll be fine, maybe even better.

My dad has had both knees and a hip replaced and there is no real "downtime" for them. you are up and walking right away and if you don't follow through on your PT and "homework" you will suffer long term.

Update...she has to go through the whole song-and-dance again, because of two things. One, her orthopedist's office moved. This is mostly good...he's closer, parking situation is much better, and the building is new and actually has a properly-functioning HVAC system! The bad part is, during the move they managed to lose a bunch of records, including hers. (Someone dropped a computer while moving and killed the hard drive.) The place she had the MRI done had copies...but they were lost when a burst pipe flooded the record room.

So, she goes for an MRI next week. (Take two...)

The verdict: tendinitis. The fix: physical therapy & no roller skating or high-impact exercise for a while. The result: unhappy Liz.

The good news is that the treatment prescribed for Liz is for "Mild Tendonitis," which is very encouraging (although I'm sure the pain is intense).

Extremely encouraging compared to the worst case scenario that would be knee replacement.

She's unhappy because she has to dial back her workout routine. The only sign I have seen is that she is favoring the leg a bit in her workouts. Most notably, when jumping down from the deck of the ramp truck she drives (about 4'), her feet don't hit the ground at the same time. Her right foot hits just a bit sooner. (It's her left knee having problems.) When I noticed that, I started paying more attention to how she did her workouts...and she is favoring her left leg a bit in all of them.
