This case is apparently resulting in a great outflowing of sympathy for an 18-year-old girl who appears to have entered into a consensual lesbian relationship with a significantly-younger girl.

Would a similar public reaction have occurred if it were an 18-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl?

An 18-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy?

Should statutory rape laws allow for relationships where the perpetrator and victim are separated by less than X years? Is a 14-year-old girl's sexuality subject to manipulation?

Since many states already do exactly that, it seems like a reasonable law.

Quite a few states define statutory rape by the age of the minor and the difference in age of the perpetrator.

So you are saying that a girl who is inclined to be heterosexual can be "converted" to be a lesbian by an influential older woman?

You had better let the gay community know about this because it is an absolute fucking article of faith in that great community that sexual orientation CANNOT BE CHANGED by outside influence. Are you aware of what happens to any psychiatrist who indicates s/he can "treat" homosexuality? People who claim to have been converted through religious salvation?

So are you saying a single youthful homosexual experience will automatically mean someone is gay? I would think many heterosexual (and homosexual for that matter) youth might be more open to dalliances on the "other side".

Did I say that? But since you brought it up, young boys or girls can be coaxed into a homosexual experience. It even happens to adults. That doesn't mean they are converted and forever changed.

There's nothing new for me to tell the gay community about anything. You've put words in my mouth and misinterpreted the meaning of sexuality based on your own black & white view of the world.
