I have to say Thanks to Gob. He was the one that first gave me the mane CHAMPIX and after near 40 years a heaver smoker I am now 2 weeks without and don't have a need to light up again.

Only EX-smokers know that feeling and it is hard to live with, not to mention the lack of controle over your temper or as I like to put it "The need to kill anyone at arms reach".

I worked it out last night I would smoke at least 40 to 50 rollies a day and in only 3 weeks I have stopped only 4 more weeks to go and I should never have that need again.

So thanks Gob your a real mate!

And to all of you that want to stop give the Champix a go. It might not work for everyone but it worked a wonder for me.

Hen has a script for Champix ready to go to the pharmacy,she's waiting for the right date to go for it.

(We have mates coming from the UK to stay with us for the next week, it may be too stressful / wrong time to start, just yet. )

You can still have a smoke if needed in the first two weeks. The only time you have to realy work on quitting is week two. That is when you must cut down right down or stop but it isn't that hard.

I did find one side affect, I have lost my addiction to coffe. This is not great because I love coffee, it's just lost it's appeal.

I took it nearly 2 years ago and gave up after trying patches, hypnotherapy,cold turkey etc. It stopped me having what I always called "LInda Blair moments" which always made me go back. i still (and think I always will occasionally crave one) the smell of a lit cigarette does not repulse me, the smell of smoke on people does!

I gained a few extra kilos which is the fucker for me...i have debated going back as i know the weight will drop off. Wonder whats worse for your health being overweight or smoking?

I do miss it I think I was a born smoker as both my parents smoke,a nd if i am ever diagnosed with Ca I will go back to it in a heartbeat!

SMF, I think being a smoker is probably worse for you, particularly if the excess weight is only a handful of kilos. You can be healthy and active and overweight, but its much harder to be a healthy smoker.

•Varenicline Tartrate is the generic name of Chantix as well as Champix.
