Movie recommendation

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

I just watched a small South African film called "Vehicle 19"

I don't often recommend a movie and this one is not perfect - but Netflix folks should consider it. As usual, the movie kowtowed to having USian actors, and the story is police/chase stuff. But it has Hitchockian overtones and, leaving the overall story behind, it has splendid South African vignettes and scenes.

Doncha get tired of NY and Chi and SF and LA? It's well worth a look if you enjoy police action kinda stuff. If not, well it's not for you. But for a B movie, it's really well done if a bit farfetched.

Anyway. that's it (And it's better than Area 9 by far)

Sounds like something I might like; I've marked it down to check it out....

I understand they're working on a new one with an exotic venue that's never been featured before:

NCIS Cleveland....

See above re Chardonnay... that's the last Fisheye I'll ever polish off

It's not a great movie - probably having lived in SA we found more to enjoy in it

I would watch it if I still had Netflix - I like movies that aren't American. I'll keep it in my Q in case I re subscribe in future.

eta: I see it stars the late Paul Walker - will definitely watch when I can!

Oh and also furthermore in addition too.... for some reason I actually enjoyed South African hip hop music quite a bit. Maybe because I didn't understand all the Zulu, Afrikaans, English mash-ups. It made for some interesting rhythms
