Trevor Noah thumbs up?

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

OK so during the football (so-called) last night, I had occasion to switch around (quite often) and found that Daily Show or whatever it's called that the guy whoever he is retired from recently. And it was Trevor's first night - his premier - his inaugural.

His style reminds me of Late Night with Loyiso Gola which was a must view in South Africa (for me). But the sharp edge isn't there. Perhaps it will come - Trevor needs to get over the need to apologize for the bits. Satire's not strengthened by guilt but by brazen innocence - an entirely different matter. He is a warm and engaging personality - perhaps not biting enough for some?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Trevor needs a Chester to go Missing
FTFY
I watched the first 10 minute segment then went to bed. Didn't suck, but wasn't good enough for me to stay up past 11pm.

I missed it last night (was actually watching John Oliver at the time) but caught the show at lunch today on-line. He's charming and likeable; "edgy" he is not, but he wasn't edgy in his stand-up shows, either. I thought he did a competent job. The writers were clearly taking it easy with the material. The Kevin Hart interview was pointless. S'okay, Jon Stewart wasn't all that in his early years, either.

The bit last night on Donald Trump as an African president was hilarious.

Funniest thing he's done yet, I agree.

He seems very clever and I'm sure he'll hit his stride - I'm really missing Jon and also The Colbert Report. For some stupid reason The Late Show is not available on Hulu or the CBS app, so I've only seen clips of Colbert's new gig on YouTube. Seems okay but I miss the old show a lot.
