I think you mean Little House on the Prairie.

And Meade, the TV I have watched in the past week: Project Runway, Great British Baking, Survivor, Indian Summers, 60 Minutes, Madame Secretary, the news, and a couple of football games. Your point?

That you are not watching the brain-dead, disrespectful, anti-social crap that some seem to think is just harmless fun. And you're probably not playing FPS games either... But our children are.

Not my boyz. They've been on a six million dollar man kick this year, when they actually sit down long enough to watch tv. They do have an X Box, but no shooter games. Football, baseball, etc. and they cannot use it during the week, only after school Friday through Sunday.

Mostly they're out playing baseball, basketball, football, taking riding lessons, going to the library, cub scouts, chess club, piano, sax, and baritone lessons, etc etc etc.

No, it means you paint with far too broad a brush and are picking only one problem out of many reasons society is becoming what it is.

You said "teach your children well" and I told you how mine are being taught.

Sorry, Guin. I should have listed all the things wrong with society rather than commenting on just one. I'm glad your children are taught well.

well, I think that the show Survivor is a horrible thing. anti -social brain-deadism at it s worst

it teaches that backstabbing and deceit are the way to survive and that your fellow inhabitants are targets to be destroyed

Well I don't care what you think. Judge away,it won't stop me.

Survivor is a fascinating psychological study. That's why I watch it from time to time, you can always learn something by watching people figure out how to "work" with others.

Hey Guin, how do you like Madame Secretary? I'm guessing well, since you are watching the 2nd season.

I've was very surprised by its high quality and love Tea Leone in a leading role. Great show! :ok

And I don't "shoo" kids off my lawn. I plink them with my pellet gun... 8-)
Why am I not surprised...?

a guy down the street told me that the old lady who used to live here caught him in her apple trees when he was an adolescent, and plinked him with her bb gun

I like it. I don't watch it every week, but it think it's better this season than last. Tea is great, and I love that her character is smart and thoughtful and questioning. It's also terrific that her character wears appropriate clothing for her role - exactly what you'd see on any female professional in DC (unlike, say the Scandal cast) - and is still feminine and sexy and strong.

I have never watched Madame Secretary, because it has been my assumption that the whole objective of the show was to promote and idealize Hillary Clinton....

This may come as a surprise, but promoting and idealizing Hillary Clinton doesn't exactly make my "must do" short list.... 8-)

That's SO true, yet I hadn't actually keyed in on that until you said it - almost all the female characters, even the young woman on staff dating the nerdy staff guy - are dressed in appropriate professional female attire, yet manage to still be very attractive to look at!

Great point! :ok

I had a theory that the show was a bit of a propaganda piece meant to stir positive sentiment toward Hillary - intentionally created by her friends in Hollywood, albeit I don't think with campaign involvement - to soften American attitudes/prejudices toward women in leadership positions. The recent episode with Madeleine Albright was a reminder of a great IRL female Secretary of State, too.

Anyway, I love the show. I look forward to the new episodes every week. Not unsurprisingly, my other favorite show with a female lead is Major Crimes. Another show where the female characters are every bit as strong as the males and where clothing is professionally appropriate.
