!!!Hamilton!!!
Got my tickets (not scalped), taking one of my best girlfriends and her son (my godson). And oh, I have to fly to Chicago to get to see it (and wait until 2017), but it will still be cheaper than NYC prices .....
I've been reading the Ron Chernow bio that inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda and it's very well done, far superior to his Washington, which is a more recent effort. It's interesting to read the book from the perspective of inspiration and also to hear the soundtrack in my head as I read.

Re: !!!Hamilton!!!
Have not seen "Hamilton", and at the price they're asking for tickets I probably won't for quite some time. But I did see the film version of "1776", the Broadway production that won the Tony for Best Musical of 1969, and wonder how they would stack up against each other and whether or not it's time for a revival of that play.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
Re: !!!Hamilton!!!
You need Franklins to see Hamilton; he'd be so proud.
Re: !!!Hamilton!!!
Face value tix in Chicago aren't horrible. I got mezzanine seats (where I prefer to sit anyway) for $117 each -- plus all of the stupid Ticketmaster fees.
BB - I loved 1776, but I think of that as a lighter more comedic piece. I'll let you know how Hamilton compares (which has its comedic moments) but is definitely not a comedy.

Re: !!!Hamilton!!!
I happened to be in the Loop around 3AM last night, and I saw this rag-tag band of squatters on the sidewalks around Monroe & Dearborn streets; it took me a minute to realize that that was the line for tickets to "Hamilton" snaking its way toward the PrivateBank (nee Schubert) Theater box office.
Congrats on getting in early and actually getting face-value tickets. Apparently you've already saved several thousand dollars: 'Hamilton' ticket rush creates long waits; secondary market prices reach $9,000

People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Maybe you should get tickets to the DNC convention in July.Guinevere wrote:Got my tickets... I have to fly to Chicago to get to see it (and wait until 2017), but it will still be cheaper than NYC prices ...

Road shows rarely have more than a handful of the original Broadway cast and "Hamilton" will not be an exception. Miranda and Odom are both gone on July 9th.

He'll (Miranda) also be offering fans a chance to see his final July 9th bow for just $10. Fans who donate just $10 to the Hispanic Federation will be entered to win two tickets to his last performance, an invitation to the after-party and airfare and hotel for those living outside of New York City. It's being organized through Prizeo.com. That's a great deal for a $10 chance.

Lib's favorite new musical play

Congratulations Econo...I happened to be in the Loop around 3AM last night
Judging from most of your posts, you're so rarely in the loop...

Re: !!!Hamilton!!!
An amazing Broadway musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers (he is on the $10 bill). http://www.hamiltonbroadway.comGob wrote:Wut? Movie? Basketball team? Fine dining?
Part of its popularity, aside from great music and a compelling story, is that it has made the story more relatable to kids and a wide swath of the population, by using hip hop and other multi-cultural rhythms in the music. It als has cast mostly Black and Hispanic actors to play these dead old white men and women (yes, I can see your eyes rolling now). Listen to the music, pretty sure it is available to stream for free via the Hamilton website.

I still haven't seen The Phantom of a the Opera which I believe I would find more to my liking.
Hip hop Hamilton? I don't know but hope you have a blast.

I'm with you. I would have to listen to the cast album before committing to go see it and see if I could stand listening to it.TPFKA@W wrote:Hip hop Hamilton? I don't know

It is so so good. I listen to the music at least once a week.

I must fail to see it.
