But is it art?

Post by Gob »

A GAY man and a straight woman have got married in the name of art – but have no plans to consummate their relationship.
Fine art students Nora Battenberg-Cartwright, 21, and Paul Cartwright, 20, say their marriage is “more honest” than a traditional one because they can tell each other when they see other people.

The pair made themselves into a piece of art as part of their course.

They married in Germany in front of 25 guests, to show their artistic commitment to each other and now live together in Worcester.

Mrs Battenberg-Cartwright, who is German, said: “It’s about an artistic unity rather than a love union, to join each other in art and make us the art. If we ever decided that we got to the point where we wanted to marry another person, that would be the end of the art career, really.”

Mr Cartwright, from Redditch, Worcs, admitted: “It’s a bit strange calling her my wife.” The pair said their parents were supportive and beginning to understand their art.

When we have students rioting on the streets over course fees, this is just taking the piss surely?
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

It is not art. It is a life-style choice.

They are wankers of the highest order if they think they can sell what people have been doing for years as "art".
Bah!

For art? There are better reasons; I've known a few straight/gay couples do it for the benefits and extra 'married' pay.

Art is about creating something new and interesting. Since when is marriage new and...

...and I'll stop right there!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I don't have a problem with them calling it art. I respect the desire to create whether or not I like the product. They done a lot better job getting people engaged with their work than most do. If its not very good, so what? If I don't like it, who should give a fuck? Whether you like something or dislike it is just about the least interesting thing you can say about it.
