I was surprised by the lack of Welshness in his voice: a rather plummy English accent which, given Thomas's elevation to Welsh national hero, seems out of place.

I didn't hear it, but is it cultural appropriation? Kind of like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins?

He was, as was I, raised in an area of Wales (Swansea,) which was not Welsh speaking.
