Yes but ‘I have measured out my life in coffee spoons’ is definitely one of the greatest lyrics ever.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Okay point taken.

Now, since you put me in the mind of Prufrock - where I haven’t been in a while - I share with you this little gem I just found on the YouTube. I have never loved Prufrock so much as now.

Not a huge a read, and worth it if you want to understand the significance of the Taylor Swift phenomenon. (It's also quite charming):

Teen niece helps explain Taylor Swift

Why does she sing wearing her swimming costume? Can't she afford a proper frock?

(Asking for a surly friend.)

I feel inadequate to comment, since I once really loved Air Supply. In my defense, I was just one among many millions.

I only got partway through but I was wading through valueless chaff. There was no attempt at explanation.(note: this refers to the teen article above)

It’s nice and I am glad that a lot of girls have chosen an aspirational ideal who is pleasant (except to ex-es). And kind. Part of the attraction (I think) is she has no great talent or abilities which would illuminate their own lack of same. Great talent pushes people away, separates people.

She does not dance; she does this little marching thing and combines with some awkward posing to try to suggest emotion.

Well she doesn’t have great range as a singer but she seems to be a most excellent human being. She just spent $55 million giving bonuses to every last person working onher latest tour.

She is worth about 3/4 of a billion dollars and gives generous amounts here and there. I think Rubbies issue is that she is a bit more successful and better regarded than his grouchy little ass is.

If Taylor Swift is what's wrong with modern culture, how does Lizzo fit in to it?
Swift is only a symptom. Not a problem. Modern culture is what's wrong with her. And she's doing very nicely from it.

AFAIK "Lizzo" doesn't fit into anything, including clothing
Now that is just mean with no purpose. No one gives a shit what Oscar Peterson looks like ( or that he is Canadian). Lizzo is a shit musician all on her own lonesome.

Koko Taylor on the other hand; now that is a woman. And I would never consider her physicality before engaging in a carnal relationship with her. Or even a canine- dolphinesque one.

Bessie Smith was a bad bitch Lizzo is a zero on that scale.
