Mindhunter

Post by BoSoxGal »

New drama series on Netflix, set in the 70s, about two FBI agents who pioneer the tactics of studying the psychology of convicted serial killers in order to solve other similar crimes.

Very well acted, great production values - like being transported back in time - and a terrific soundtrack. I’m starting episode 3 and really enjoying it, so I highly recommend.

Some of the best TV I’ve seen this past year has been Netflix and Hulu series - and Amazon, of course.

Agree with BSG, Mindhunter is a very good show. The first episode starts a bit slow, but you'll be hooked by the second episode and bummed the season ends so quickly. The characters are based loosely on actual people, but they supposedly stay close to the actual crimes presented.

Thanks for posting that Long Run...

We watched the first episode a couple of weeks ago, and really weren't drawn in...

I'll give it another go...

And Season 2 just keeps getting better, especially as they do actual investigative work on a major serial murder case. If you haven't jumped on this one yet, it is definitely one of the better series to come along in the last few years.

I agree; great writing and attention to detail of real life serial murder cases, plus an excellent soundtrack and period set design. Season 2 focused on the Atlanta child murders, a serial killer case many believe to be unsolved as of today. This series is must see for true crime enthusiasts.

So binged both seasons. I had forgotten how much people smoked in the 70s/80s! I could practically smell it coming out of the teevee. Gawd, we were gross.

Not even a trip to Nevada's smokiest casinos can recapture those times.

Just started* watching this. Could have done without being reminded of Jerry Broudos. (Not looking up proper spelling for that POS) not that they have gone too far into the details of his crimes against n this show but he was particularly sadistic. Need a palate cleanser now and I already watched the new oversimplified.

*mostly through the first season

For those who enjoyed Mindhunter, I recommend checking out Catch Me a Killer on BritBox (or wherever else you can find it streaming).

I’ve just watched the first two episodes and found it very compelling. It’s not as super high quality production as Mindhunter, but it’s more than solid and tells the true story of South Africa’s first criminal profiler Micki Pistorius (yes, she’s Oscar’s aunt) and how she helped solve serial killer cases in SA.

I missed this when it was recommended first time around. Not sure why it didn't catch my attention then, because I'm four episodes in and loving it.

Not that anyone cares, but I will continue to avoid the bad language and watch something more interesting - such as "Patience" on UK Channel 4 (thank you VPN).

There isn’t that much bad language and honestly that’s such a peculiar hang up in 2025. Is there even a prohibition against curse words in the Bible? Blasphemy sure, but does Jesus really give a shit about a little potty mouth?

Research suggests those who swear are more intelligent; surely the Son of God must have had a colorful vocabulary?

Different strokes . . .
1. It's no more a hang-up to find something unpleasant than it is to find it normative

2. I don't find it entertaining, helpful or particularly clever.

3. No idea why you need to mention the Bible or Jesus. (Well, of course I have an idea but it's got nothing to do with what I prefer not to hear on TV and other media)

4. Correlation is not causation - people with wider vocabularies use more words (of all kinds). So do thick as shit assholes.

Oh no! I just outed myself
