Farewell, Tom Lehrer
I don't know how I missed it when it occurred, but it has come to my attention that musical satirist Tom Lehrer — writer/composer and performer of The Elements, New Math, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, The Irish Ballad, The Old Dope Peddler, et al (and I believe he also did a little teaching somewhere along the line) — is no longer among us. Mr. Lehrer passed away about six weeks ago, back on July 26th, at the age of 97.
