Pet Shop Boys, Boy George and Culture Club, Jamiroquai? What? Am I back in 1984 again?The just-announced New Year’s Eve party in Sydney Harbour will feature the Pet Shop Boys, Boy George’s band Culture Club, Jamiroquai, Guy Sebastian, Pseudo Echo and Lyndsey Ollard.
The Sydney Resolution Concert Series event will be staged at Sydney’s Glebe Island overlooking the Harbour on Saturday December 31, promising an unforgettable night of music and festivities, showcasing some of the biggest acts in the world against a backdrop that only Sydney can provide.
“With unobstructed, stunning views of the city and the fireworks display, there is no better place to be on New Year’s Eve than Glebe Island,” says the concert’s crew.
Glebe Island will turn into a ‘mini city’ for the event, with a custom-built venue providing entertainment and bars, including an on-site ‘village’ showcasing Sydney’s best local and international food, and a unique array of retail and market stalls.
Patrons will arrive and depart by ferry or bus service from terminals and wharfs provided by the event. It’s set to be a licensed event – so all patrons must be over 18 years of age. Gates open at 2pm on the day, entertainment commences at 4pm and all performances will conclude by 1:45am. Ticket prices go from $198 for general admission, through to $750 for VIP packages.
