Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he's finally stopping smoking cannabis, and it's all down to the sense of responsibility he feels to his eight-year-old daughter Beatrice.
The 69-year-old told Rolling Stone magazine: "I did a lot, and it was enough. I smoked my share.
"When you're bringing up a youngster, your sense of responsibility does kick in. Enough's enough."
Paul has admitted to using drugs throughout his career. Bob Dylan introduced him to cannabis in the mid-1960s, and cocaine, heroin, LSD and psychedelics followed.
The Beatles star was arrested for cannabis possession in Sweden, at his Scottish farm in 1972, and was deported from Japan in 1980 for having half a pound of marijuana. He was later arrested in Barbados.
In his interview with Rolling Stone, Paul also revealed why the Beatles never reformed, explaining: "We'd all said, very convincingly, 'We've come full circle.'
"And more importantly, it could have been so wrong that it spoiled the whole idea of the Beatles; so wrong that they'd be like, 'Oh, my God, they weren't any good.' So the re-formation suggestions were never convincing enough."
Now that he's nearing his seventies, is Paul going to make way for the new generation?
No way! "You get the argument 'make way for the young kids,' and you think, 'F*** that, let them make way for themselves. If they're better than me, they'll beat me.'"
However, his daughter Beatrice has influence over his career as well as his recreation, as Paul admitted he is making his tours shorter and scheduling them around his custody of his daughter.

Re: McCartney quits
Funny that didn't kick in when his first four children were born...(His second daughter, Stella, is the same age as Kelly...they were both born in '71)"When you're bringing up a youngster, your sense of responsibility does kick in. Enough's enough."
Far be it from me to criticize a man who chooses to have children later in life than the average, (far be it indeed) but his epiphany does seem to ring a bit hollow...

Hopefully, the 'moderators' on this topic won't cut off this line of discussion, leaving us 'legless' so to speak.

"Moderators" are just a crutch for those that can't control themselves.

Re: McCartney quits
I may be going out on a limb here, but I think this thread has been crippled.
Re: McCartney quits
This thread's taken a bad turn; I'd need some cannabis myself to tolerate much more of this painful punning.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
