77 Sunset Trip

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

Great news! Leonard Cohen has announced a new tour ("Old Ideas") beginning in August 2012. I bought the Old Ideas album this past week at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town (our USA family have been with us for two weeks and we had a great time) and it's well worth the price.

Thus far only European dates have been announced but (LJ please note) the North American details are currently being worked out. Here in South Africa, even the animals are hoping the tour will come to mzansi and the excitement is building!

No Aus dates? I'm disapointed. :(
Leonard Cohen earned rave reviews throughout his triumphant 2008-2010 World Tour, with The Observer praising the show as “An evening of pure gold,” while The Daily Telegraph plainly stated “immaculate, beautiful, exquisite.” The Independent reported that “to hear him sing is still an experience to truly make young women and romantics shiver and sweat” and Toronto Sun declared Leonard Cohen “Charming, funny, poignant, smart, sharp, sexy… he is still a ladykiller.” Daily Express hailed that “Leonard Cohen is special and this concert – all two-and-a-half-hours of it – was unforgettable” and Irish Independent recounted that “What I witnessed was soul inspiring on every level, I have never been so moved by a performance, everything about the night was magical.” The Times suggested “On this kind of grand autumnal form, he should tour every year.”
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Cue Jim in 5... 4... 3...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I'm sorry, Jim has suddenly gone comatose and is unable to comment on this story.

Didn't see this thread till now....

So he's named his album "Old Ideas"....

Well I gotta give Mumbles a little credit for truth in labeling....

In the same spirit, maybe he can name his next album "Really Old Ideas" or "Trite Ideas" or "Lame Ideas"....
the North American details are currently being worked out.
Yes, I'll definitely keep an eye out for that...

I'd love to be able to get the Metamucil concession stand rights......

I think I'd be safe so long as I got a set of those sound muffling headsets they use on air craft carrier flight decks....

When it comes to your obsessiveness with Laughing Len Jim, I think we can get you a spot on this TV series.

Some enterprising investigative journalist needs to do a hard hitting expose on the widespread use of hallucinogenic drugs by newspaper concert reviewers in Canada, Britain and Ireland....

That looks like a good show....

It's a brilliant show, and such a simple concept. Just a bunch of old duffers giving a wry look at modern life. But more importantly, (being of a certain age, ) I tend to agree with most of what they say. There's nothing better than having your prejudices confirmed is there? :D
