This Surprised Me...

So I got an email a little while ago from the SFPUC (San Francisco Public Utilities Commission) with this subject line:

"Photos of WSIP projects will leave you mesmerized!"

And then inside the email there was this:

A stunning slideshow of our Water System Improvement Program — view it here!

And I chuckled and thought...

Oh yes....

Photos of the "Water System Improvement Program"....must be breathtaking....

I fully expected that I would have a good post for the "Laffs" forum....

But I was wrong....

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say "mesmerizing" but completely contrary to my expectations, the photos are in fact quite good...(despite the subject matter.)

Speaking as a photographer of some renown, I like those!

I like having a topic for my photography, the local Canberra forum sometimes sets topics for photograph submission. Some of mine have been lauded there.

A talented photographer, (which I know you certainly to be Strop, from the examples of your work that I have seen) can create compelling art from even the most seemingly mundane subject matter...

And you can't get much more mundane than the "Water System Improvement Program"....

That's kinda like having a proctologist that has an imaginative way of taking colonoscopy photos.

There are photographers that can make just about anything look like art.

Beauty is in the butt of the beheld.
