A Lonely Place to Die

Post by MajGenl.Meade »

Just watched this after ripping the first rented one apart with a jack-knife while trying to open the locked DVD case - why does that happen? Cost me R100 because the nice lady said "Well just that much because we already made some money off renting it"

Anyway, I don't think this was great shakes as a movie - group of young climbers in Scotland find a kidnapped girl buried in the Highlands - breathing tube, some water and that's it. The tale of the rescue continues to the bloody end.

But more interesting really are the climbing sequences in the first 15-20 mins and even more especially in the "Extras - the Making Of". It's worth renting the DVD to see the Extras and I thought of Taff a lot while watching. Great that two brothers (directors, writers etc) actually went climbing in Snowdonia and the Nevises before starting the movie and the lengths they went to in order to produce "real" footage. Worth a look I think for someone like me who knows FA about climbing and cares less.

Definitely want to.

Jim is right, there is no place called "Snowdonia", there is however a wonderful and very beautiful area of Cymru known as Yr Wyddfa. It's located in Parc Ceneddlaethol Eryn.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Ceneddlaethol
That sounds like some sort of highly toxic chemical...

"The toxicology report revealed that the victim had been injected with a lethal dose of ceneddlaethol."

Did they do it with babies strapped to their backs? Because otherwise it's not really climbing.

Or so I've been given to understand, from what I've read around here.
GAH!

But if you buy a vowel or two and have teeth, it's Snowdonia and this is a picture of Mount Snowdon:
