Need some help there, old-timer? Looks like the tube's gone on your old steam-TV... no As The World Turns for you today!Lord Jim wrote:

I like Vikings too...
Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
For the record, I detest soap operas...(The only one I ever watched was Dark Shadows...)
But I must say that The Bard Of Kent Ohio certainly seems to have a great familiarity with them...

Just in case you missed an episode of Justified...

There... now you're all cat up.

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
I think you're right...More on topic sorta - you would make an interesting character and fit right in on Justified.
I have just the character...
A guy with the nickname, "The English Teacher"...
He comes down to Harlan as a hitman sent by The Dixie Mafia to kill Boyd...
He wears an old style noir-type grey Fedora...

The problem is, that even though this guy is a cold blooded contract killer, he has some quirks...
Every time he hears someone end a sentence with a preposition, or a dangling participle, he abandons his contract and hunts them down and kills them...
A guy in a bar, a gas station attendant, a waitress serving at the Early Bird Special at the local Dennys....
And then he relaxes back in his hotel room, reading books about The War Of Northern Aggression, listening to Leonard Cohen's Suzanne , and munching on Marmite flavored cashews...
Raylan and the local police know there's a serial killer on the loose, but they can't put the pieces together until they find the one thing that all the victims have in common...
Bad grammar...

I skipped most of the posts in case of spoilers, as I haven't started watching Justified yet.
I've been considering adding Vikings to the queue, but I'm guessing it's really violent?

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
There was a joke that caused much hilarity in grade school.... half a century and more ago...
Man at a fancy dress party: "I'm a Viking pirate!"
Doubter: "If you're a pirate, where are your buccaneers?"
Man: "Under my Viking hat!"
You can pay me later

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
Joe, have you watched episode six? The ending doesn't bode well for Ava....

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
That was a good line, kind of riff on the one from Season 3 where he and a DEA agent surprise a room full of criminals including Boyd:"Wonderful things can happen when you sow seeds of distrust in a garden of assholes..."
Raylan Givens:
Miller, would you call this a herd, a gaggle, or a flock of assholes?
Alex Miller:
I would call this a United Nations of assholes.
Boyd Crowder:
Well, that's funny because we were just discussing ratifying some shit.
Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
That was great scene
(But I think it was last season, which would be season five)
I think that was in the same season where Boyd had this great line:

I think that was in the same season where Boyd had this great line:
Picker, along with Wyn (Jere Burns) and Katherine (Mary Steenburgen) are assembled at their hotel room to get an answer from Boyd (Walton Goggins) as to what happened to the Mexican heroin shipment and how he intends to make things right. As their conversation is about to turn serious, Boyd asks if he can smoke. Wyn informs him they are in a no-smoking suite, and just as Boyd is twirling his cigarette between his fingers, a team of marshals storms in. “I see this hotel takes that no smoking policy seriously,” Boyd says, laying on the ground with a marshal’s gun at his head.

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
Haven't watched it yet. I plan to watch episodes 6 & 7 tomorrow or Wednesday.Lord Jim wrote:Joe, have you watched episode six? The ending doesn't bode well for Ava....

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
If you are following Justified, but have not seen through Episode 10 of the final season, read no further....
Personally, I hope that Ava gets away with the money....(it's Markham's ill-gotten money anyway...)
She's not an evil person...(over the whole series she killed two people...the first one was a pimp who had murdered one girl and would have murdered a second if Ava hadn't blown him away, and the second was a woman she was in prison with who was trying to kill her...)
She risked her life trying to make to make an honest deal and told Raylan what Boyd was up to, but they were going to send her back to prison anyway...
Raylan wasn't good with that being done to her...(he still has affection for her)
I have a feeling that he's not going to be able to give a really good description of the pickup truck she took off in with the 10 million dollars...(and a brand new identity complete with passport thanks to Ellstin Limehouse...)
But now Raylan has a wounded Boyd Crowder....(wounded by Ava, with two bullet holes...)
As Ava put it, "Isn't this what you always wanted Raylan? Boyd Crowder lying bleeding at your feet?"
I'm sure it is, but now Raylan really doesn't have anything "on" Boyd...
He can't get him for stealing Markham's money, because the money wasn't stolen...
He could nail Boyd for kidnapping and ransom, but that would require that Markham and Katherine Hale admit that happened and press charges...(which is unlikely because being professional criminals, they'd probably rather go after Ava to get the money back, rather than file criminal charges...)
So Raylan's got nothin' on Boyd...
That's gotta hurt...
(Unless somehow he can nail him for Dewey Crowe's murder...)
ETA:
And no big surprise that Wyn Duffy turned out to be a government snitch...
Two best recurring characters:
Constable Bob:

Loretta McCready:

"Marshal, do I in any way strike you as a Van Halen fan?"

Re: Who's Going To Meet Their Maker...
I just started watching this show - binge watched seasons 1 & 2 over the weekend, while laying low with bronchitis.
I really like the acting and characters, but I have to say it's a super distraction to me that it's filmed in California, which looks absolutely nothing like Appalachia. Even though they try with camera angles to avoid the palm trees getting into the shots, it's just WAY too sunny. The mood is totally off.

Raylan: Ava...
Ava: Are you gonna shoot me Raylan? Are you gonna shoot me in the back? Because unless you are, I'm leaving...
Raylan: Ava, We're gonna come after you...and the last time you tried to run, that didn't work out really well...
Ava: Yeah, well the last time I ran, I didn't have 10 million dollars to help me....

Shhh, quit spoilin!
I realize one of the reasons I really like this series is Boyd Crowder/Walton Goggins - he's one of the best bad guys on TV in a long, long time. I especially like his wit and literary references.
