I think his name was John (or Martin) Schaller (or maybe Schallert).

ETA: sorry, I missed RayThom's post. I'm pretty sure he had the name.

And he's still alive at 93 or 94. I wouldn't have guessed that.

Tribbles are good therapy. And agree with all sentiments, Patty Duke died too young. I don't remember the show that well, but my recollection is that she popularized tutti frutti shakes and patty melts.
