OLD SCHOOL
If I allow myself to get overwhelmed Ol' Earl gets me every time. Gone too soon.
Beautiful in its simplicity. In my honor my daughter plans to dance to this song at her wedding.

"The Libertador: Simón Bolívar"
Gustavo Dudamel with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela
(Deutsche Grammophon)
I just finished listening to the entire soundtrack for this newly released film. Riveting, mesmerizing, and deep. Listen for the subtleties of the pan flute. Not that it has been critically discussed but I'm sure Dudamel has been influenced greatly by Ennio Morricone. You'll know it when you hear it.
There are no full tracks available to my knowledge at this time. You'll have to buy the album. Nonetheless, this link will let you sample a few moments of each track. Great stuff.

I'm 'avin that!! Thanks Ray. Just the sort of sound I aim for (and miss by miles, ) in my more "orchestral" stuff.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Re: Music recommendations
I heard part of an interview last night with Robert Plant (who's flogging a new album that I haven't heard), but it reminded me of his absolutely amazing work a few years ago with Alison Krauss on Raising Sand. For years I had discounted him because all I really knew was Led Zep; his work with Krauss was not only eye-opening, but quite stunning.

Honestly, I think this is one of the most beautifully done songs ever. I like their version of this song better than any other I've heard (including Shawn Colvin's, and hers is pretty damn good).

Re: Music recommendations
Just wanted to share this... the first new music I've been involved with in over a decade.

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
